At 32, Southern Charm alum Kathryn Dennis knows about the difficulties in co-parenting. And turning to social media, Kathryn recently reflected on sharing her children with Thomas Ravenel, another Southern Charm alum. Because she and her ex-boyfriend share custody, Dennis views her situation as “tough,” according to People.

“When I am with you I feel so alive again,” Kathryn wrote to her children in her caption. And the post showed the Southern Charm alum with herself and her daughter Kensington (Kensie), 9, and son St. Julien (Saint), 7. But Dennis tried to offer reassurance.

And the former Southern Charm star promised her children, “I know that we will make it through these tough times. And they won’t last forever,” added Kathryn. However, the reassurance comes after a highly publicized battle for custody between Dennis and Ravenel.

Southern Charm featured Kathryn and Thomas going from an on-again, off-again romance since she joined the cast in 2014. But their split in 2016 sparked a war over custody. And the two repeatedly exchanged accusations about each other’s behavior in an effort to win.

However, in her new social media post, Dennis addressed other parents who struggle with shared custody. And the Southern Charm alum wrote that she wanted to send “strength to co-parents out there. No matter the situation, being without your children is the most difficult pain you must carry each and every day you are without them,” Dennis noted. 

And the Southern Charm alum called shared custody “so unnatural and such a drawn out devastation. We need each others love and support. Here’s to hope for the future.”

However, Dennis has shared that her goal in co-parenting her children with Ravenel involves “focusing on building a better life for me, for them and our family.” And she revealed, “I have a great relationship with my kids. We have a lot of fun.”

During the summer, the former Southern Charm alum posted a pic with her children in front of a design created by Kensie. And it contained the word “Home.” In her caption, Dennis wrote, “Had such a great day with the two most important people in my life.”
