Chrisley Knows Best famously portrayed the fabulous lives of Todd Chrisley, his wife Julie Chrisley, and their children.

And the Chrisley Knows Best patriarch loved boasting about his expensive clothes, luxurious mansion, and extravagant lifestyle. But then came Todd’s and Julie’s convictions, landing them with a combined 19-year prison sentence. 

As a result, the networks cancelled Chrisley Knows Best and its spin-off. But as her parents serve their sentences behind bars, their daughter Savannah Chrisley complains that flaunting the family’s fame on reality TV backfired. Get all the details below. 

Savannah Chrisley Wants Sympathy For Family

Chrisley Knows Best showed Todd Chrisley, wife Julie Chrisley, and children Chase, Grayson, and Savannah Chrisley enjoying over-the-top luxury.

But in the wake of the show’s cancellation and her parents’ prison sentences, Savannah expressed her frustration with the show’s image via News Nation.

As a result of their fame and luxurious lifestyles, Savannah thinks the federal government treated her parents unfairly by using them as an example. And she admitted, “I know that will cause a lot of ruffled feathers.”

However, Savannah also complained that she feels she can’t get any sympathy for herself and her parents. And she pointed out, “People will look at us and think, ‘Why should we feel bad for you? Look at the life you lived.’ It’s been quite the ride.”

IRS Sends ‘Clear Message’ To Chrisley Clan

Prior to the cancellation of Chrisley Knows Best, Todd portrayed himself as a multimillionaire real estate king on Chrisley Knows Best. And together with his wife Julie and children, the Chrisley Knows Best patriarch flaunted his extravagance in buying anything and everything he desired.

As a result of the show’s success, it even received a spin-off, Growing Up Chrisley, with Todd’s and Julie’s kids Chase and Savannah.

But then came the convictions. And the networks cancelled all of the family’s shows, per Deadline. However, the U.S. Attorney’s Office charged Todd and Julie with submitting false bank statements, audit reports, and personal financial statements to banks to get millions of dollars in fraudulent loans.

The duo then shelled out that money on luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate, and travel, using new fraudulent loans to pay back old ones.

And Todd then filed for bankruptcy, putting behind him more than $20 million of the fraudulently obtained loans. However, James E. Dorsey, Special Agent in Charge, IRS-Criminal Investigation, stated, “These convictions should send a clear message regardless of your fame or notoriety, everyone will be held accountable for paying their fair share of taxes.”

But Keri Farley, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta said, “When you lie, cheat and steal, justice is blind as to your fame, your fortune, and your position.” However, when it comes to justice, Savannah shared that her parents deserve better living conditions behind bars

But now the Chrisley Knows Best alum thinks God arranged her parents’ prison sentence. And Savannah explained her theory. Before her parents’ convictions, she remained “tone deaf to the system.” However, “God has put us in this place now to where we know better, we do better,” she added. “And now, I can be a voice for over two million people that are incarcerated today.”
