During his annual interview with the media, executive producer Iain MacLeod has hinted at this year’s storyline of the longest-running drama, including “Coronation Street’s” major events and unexpected twists.
Speaking to Digital Spy, MacLeod revealed Emma (Alexandra Mardell) and Faye’s (Ellie Leach) “life-changing consequences” after they bumped a man on the road. Despite immediately taking care of him, the girls will soon wake up each day with guilt knowing that Imran (Charlie De Melo) can testify about the incident.
He also mentioned the future scenes of the real-life siblings, Rebecca Ryan and Jack James Ryan, who play Lydia and Jacob Hay, respectively. As for Lydia, known as someone from Adam’s life, she will create chaos between the latter and his wife Sarah (Tina O’Brien) as more revelations will unfold.
Coronation Street spoilers show Jacob Hay will make amends to people following the criminal activities he has done in the past. He will also be involved in a rom-com storyline which according to MacLeod, “It’s ‘Meet the Parents’ done ‘Coronation Street’ style.”
In Zeedan’s (Qasim Akhtar) storyline, the producer revealed the latter will remain a “good guy” but will face great consequences for some terrible mistakes he made, especially after his wife, Marrium (Kiran Linda), stepped into the cobbles.
When asked about Gemma (Dolly Rose Campbell), Chesney (Sam Aston), and the kids, MacLeod has hinted that there will be an interesting storyline for the family that he loves, just like when Joseph runs away, which leads Chesney to struggle in dealing with his son, and Gemma willingly to be an ally to the deaf community.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Iain MacLeod Unveils More Relationship Drama In Weatherfield
Iain MacLeod has enumerated a list of relationship dramas to develop in 2022, just like the one-night mistake storyline of Abi (Sally Carman) and Imran, which will cause a huge blow to their respective partners Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Toyah (Georgia Taylor).
Yasmeen (Shelley King) and Stu (Bill Fellows) will also begin to show some spark as their story unfolds but it will challenge Yasmeen after all the traumatic experiences she had with Geoff (Ian Bartholomew). Will Stu change her outlook towards relationships? “It’s a really complicated, unique love story,” MacLeod teased.
Knowing that Summer (Harriet Bibby) has a huge crush on her professor, Daniel (Rob Mallard), will cause a future feud between the Platts and the Barlows. Her storyline will show how a teenage girl handles stress in her environment, especially on her health condition. The story will also show how Summer’s three dads will take care of her despite their issues.
MacLeod talked about Jenny’s (Sally Ann Matthews) self-consciousness when she starts to date Leo (Joe Frost), a man younger than her. He also mentioned the storyline of Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), Tyrone (Alan Halsall), and Phill (Jamie Kenna), and mentioned that there will be more upcoming feuds between the two men.
