Ellen DeGeneres Almost Doubles Money On Montecito Home Sale

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi are enjoying a romantic vacation on an African safari at the moment. And The Ellen Show alum can afford it, as she nearly doubled her money when she sold her Montecito beach bungalow recently. 

The Beach Bungalow Sold For Millions

TMZ reported on March 21, that Ellen listed her cottage for sale and it sold for $5.2 million. That’s a lot of cash, especially as the area has been subjected to floods and fire threats in the past. Still, it’s the place to be if you are anyone with a famous face, like Prince Harry and Meghan Markel.  

Originally,  the canceled talk show host paid $2.9 million for it. So, she nearly doubled her money. Keeping things cool, the outlet noted, “The 2-bedroom, 2-bath home flew off the market in record time …and even sold above its $4.99M asking price.”

The Couple Moved To The UK

Portia and Ellen DeGeneres moved to the UK after Donald Trump’s election success in 2024. They’d already purchased a place in the Cotswolds so they could easily depart. Rumors arrived that bad weather damaged their home in the UK, but Ellen denied that happened.

She was back in the USA recently when her Netflix show aired. As the bungalow sold quickly, perhaps she listed it then. Apparently, many offers streamed in, and within a short time, it was sold. Perhaps their African safari is a celebration of that.

When the outlet shared the news on Instagram, people gatherd to comment. Some of them felt nostalgic about Ellen from the days before her fall from grace. One of them said, “She used to be so funny years ago.”

Meanwhile, others posted hand-clapping and red heart emojis, because, although she was accused of bullying behavior, not everyone hates the same-sex couple. However, a lot of people wrote nasty things about Ellen, claiming she was part of Diddy’s list of partygoers. And, others think she did nasty things because the set on the show seemed similar to Epstein’s Island.

There Are No Charges 

Of course, a lot of those assumptions were generated on social media, and not from mainstream news. For now, no charges are pending against the former The Ellen Show host.
