No, not as the completely rebooted movie that’s reportedly in development, but with Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow, and if they can manage it, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. What new mayhem will the duo get into for their next adventures?
While we pray for that, Orlando Bloom has decided to make us a little nostalgic by revealing how Johnny Depp crafted the character Jack Sparrow and got him to be so good fans couldn’t help but fall in love.
Orlando Bloom – Says Johnny Depp Enjoyed Playing Captain Jack Sparrow
What’s it like working with Johnny Depp on the set of one of his most successful movies, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean?’ Orlando Bloom, 47, has answers.
“Johnny was just in his flow, you know?” Orlando said on Thursday, May 9, per Variety. “He was very much enjoying every moment of chewing that scenery. He built out a character that I think he really enjoyed playing. It’s fun to see actors really love what they’re doing and sort of laughing at themselves a little.”
Speaking on how Depp, 60, developed his character from the onset of the franchise’s launch in 2003, the ‘Lord of the Rings’ star recalled seeing him “kind of chuckling the whole time” when they were onset.
According to Bloom, Depp’s mission was to create “moments for the character.”
Over the years, the franchise has continued to thrill audiences with Depp at the helm as the iconic rum-loving Captain Jack Sparrow. Bloom was notably absent on the installment ‘On Stranger Tides,’ though Depp revised his role.
At the moment, the fate of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise is up in the air, since Disney dropped Depp at the height of the sexual assault allegations made against him by ex Amber Heard.
At the time, Depp said in court, “There was a deep and distinct sense of feeling betrayed by the people that I’ve worked hard for. People that I delivered a character to that they initially despised, but I stuck to my guns with the character, and it seemed to work.”
