Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding hardly expected to “see another Christmas”, and while her family members, friends and fans prayed and hoped against such eventuality, the singer and actress was confirmed to have passed away on the morning of 5 September, aged 39.
The news was a devastating one, and fans and close friends took to social media to pay tribute to her outstanding moments in life. You may remember her as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother 20, or as a member of U.K.’s biggest selling girl group of the 21st century, or you may know her as the funny lady who loved to inspire people, but the truth is that she’s left a mark in this world, and many people miss her.
Sarah Harding’s Battle With Metastatic Breast Cancer
The tragic news was broken by the Girl Aloud’s vocalist’s mother, who wrote about it on Instagram alongside a black-and-white picture of the English singer smiling.
“I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease -– she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead,” the post said.
On August 26, 2020, Harding announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She shared that her condition was critical since it had advanced to “other parts” of her body.
She released an autobiography in March 2021, explaining her decision to go public with her illness and noting that it might help others to seek medical advice if needed, even during the pandemic.
“As scary as it was to go public about my diagnosis, it was the right thing to do, and the amount of support I’ve received is incredible,” Harding said at the time.

“I’ve been inundated with lovely messages from my fans. I’m grateful beyond words for that.”
Harding rose to fame in 2002 as a member of the prominent British girl group Girls Aloud. The group was formed on the ITV reality show “Popstars: The Rivals”, with Harding as one of five members which includes Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Cheryl Tweedy and Kimberley Walsh.
The band split in 2013 after selling four million singles in Britain. They achieved four number one singles, including hits like “Sound of the Underground” and “The Promise”.
Sarah Harding Was Hoping To Continue Her Music Journey
Harding hoped to continue her musical journey as a solo artist and announced her debut album as early as 2010. While Harding showed enthusiasm toward releasing the album and described working on it, it was never released.
Harding’s last music was the single “Wear it Like a Crown”, which she had recorded 10 years earlier and finally released on 24th March 2021.
Melinda Salisbury, television personality Lizzie Cundy, and bandmates Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts, along with hundreds of fans, are among those who expressed sorrow on Harding’s passing and paid tribute to her.
