All My Children Actor Richard Lawson Faces Marriage End

Before tying the knot with All My Children star Richard Lawson in 2015, Tina was married to Mathew Knowles. And the two share daughters Beyoncé and Solange. However, they separated in 2009 before divorcing in 2011, according to People.

But prior to Tina’s divorce filing, she and Richard seemed to enjoy a perfect marriage. For instance, the All My Children actor celebrated their anniversary by writing on Instagram, “I thought you were one of the most beautiful women I had ever met. The thing that was so striking was that your beauty continued to be enhanced by your incredible heart, compassion, empathy, generosity, and philanthropy.”

Tina and Richard also created their own theater center together. And beyond his work as an actor on shows like All My Children, Lawson has worked as a producer and director. His credits include the original Poltergeist movie. And he also starred on Dynasty, The Cosby Show, Moesha, NYPD Blue and Mixed-ish.

Before tying the knot with Richard, Tina once shared that she didn’t know if she would ever marry again. And she admitted, “There was a time when I doubted if I would find love again. But I was determined to be happy.”

And after meeting Richard, Tina knew that she desired to wed him in just four months. However, the turning point came when the All My Children actor supported her recovery from surgery. And she admitted, “I wasn’t very comfortable with it because I was like, ‘This is not the way to start a relationship off. It’s not very romantic.'”

However, Richard showed Tina how much he wanted to support her. “But he just proved to me that he was there, that he was really in my corner,” she explained. “And he took such good care of me, and he was so patient. That’s when I knew: This is something special.”

And Blue Ivy, Beyoncé’s daughter, even played a role in her grandmother’s marriage. “[In September] we went on a boat with Beyoncé and Jay-Z for her birthday,” recalled Tina. “And when we came out one night dressed to go to dinner, Blue said, ‘Oh, ya’ll look beautiful. When are ya’ll getting married?'”

Richard responded, “Oh, Blue, soon. Do you approve?” And the little girl “said yes,” recalled Tina. “That’s the first time we talked seriously about getting married.” But before he proposed, the All My Children actor contacted Beyoncé and Solange. “I called her children and I asked for her hand in marriage from them,” shared Richard.

And he explained why contacting Tina’s daughters seemed so important. “Because I knew without that, based upon the fact that Tina lives for her children, that it didn’t stand a chance unless they were on board. I was fortunate enough that they were completely on board and just over the top excited about it.”
