Coronation Street Spoilers: Beverley Callard Confirms She’s Returning As Liz McDonald

ITV Coronation Street spoilers previously explained why Liz McDonald was suddenly written out of the soap. It wasn’t the writers or show bosses’ choice. Actress Beverley Callard had two hip surgeries, which ended up with complications and left her in a wheelchair. However, the fan-favorite soap star confirmed that she is coming back to the cobbles!

Corrie spoilers reveal that earlier this year, Beverley had two hip surgeries, which were deemed “necessary” following a theatre injury. However, she ended up with complications and in a wheelchair. During an interview with the Sunday Mirror, the actress admitted that she was concerned that she would never walk again.

Disappearing Act

Fans didn’t know about what happened to Beverley, so there was outrage when her character was written out of the soap. All viewers knew is that Liz McDonald was in Spain and they demanded that the soap bring Beverley back. Shortly after that, the actress came forward with why she couldn’t be on-screen right now.

“I think I damaged my hip doing Thunder Girls on stage last year. Tweaked something or tore something. So, I went in in March for quite a minor operation, and then, it just didn’t go well… It’s been one of the worst times I’ve gone through. But I have to tell you, I’m battling, I’m fighting. I’ve got physio every day, hydrotherapy twice a week – I’m trying my best.”

Coronation Street Spoilers – ITV Soap Opera Offered Adjustments

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that the soap did try to work with Beverly, though. They offered to make the necessary adjustments so she could still be on the show. However, the actress just could not imagine stiletto-wearing Liz McDonald in a wheelchair.

“They did offer me a wheelchair and I said: ‘Absolutely not!’ A wheelchair and stiletto shoes, no-no-no. But I will go back maybe at the beginning of next year, so they will see a bit more of Liz. It’s going to be very dramatic, I believe.”

Beverley Callard Returning As Liz McDonald

More recently, Beverley shared on Loose Women that she is definitely coming back as Liz McDonald. The actress did explain in the video post that she had to turn down Strictly Come Dancing. But she was “fighting” to get back to the cobbles so she could give her character the kind of exit that she deserves.
