Roy wants his niece to be who she wants to be. But because of the attack, “Nina is going to become more like him – beige – and she’s conforming” and “Roy feels terrible” about it, Neilson said.
“The thing is with Roy, he avoids the crowds. Nina is not part of the crowd and suddenly she wants to dress to be invisible and to be part of the crowd. Roy can see that’s damaging to her individuality and personality, but it is obviously a phase,” he explained.
Neilson praised Gallagher for her excellent portrayal of her character. “Mollie does it brilliantly as well. It’s the way she plays it, the subtle differences in the character,” he said.

The actor also revealed that Nina isn’t the only one that Roy is worried about. He’s concerned about Abi Franklin (Sally Carman), too. She’s grieving the loss of her son and she’s blaming Nina for everything.
“Roy understands Abi’s grief and that nothing is stable. Everything is going all over the place,” he explained.
“It’s a world that he doesn’t understand, what the kids are up to and all of that, but he’s landed in this situation,” he continued.
The actor added that his character has dealt with Abi before through Ray Crosby (Mark Frost). “He knows her heart is absolutely in the right place. Her brain isn’t always in the right place, but you need people like that,” Neilson said.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Will Roy Crosby Take Revenge?
When asked whether his character will take revenge on the people responsible for attacking his niece and Seb, Neilson believes that Roy is “capable of anything.” He described his character as a “rational person” who follows a “moral code.”
Fans may recall that he attacked Gary Mallett (Ian Mercer) in the past. Who knows what he can do if something terrible happens to him or his loved ones? However, Neilson warned that “that’s not the way forward for society or to deal with it. To me, it almost feels that he’s got the brake on – it’s a handle for me and the character.”
