Coronation Street Spoilers – Tony Maudsley Joins Soap

Corrie spoilers confirm that Tony Maudsley is joining the ITV soap to play Archie Shuttleworth’s (Roy Hudd) son. Executive producer Iain Macleod shared the news during a Zoom press conference with several media outlets, including Entertainment Daily, who reported the news.

“Eileen’s son will return to the cobbles and cause her no end of grief but it does throw a brand new character into Eileen’s orbit who has deep roots in Corrie.”

The executive producer gave a little teaser regarding Eileen’s future love interest. He indicated that Eileen might actually find some happiness this time around. After all her doomed relationships and the bad men she’s been entangled with, fans think it’s about time. Macleod said,

“He’s one of our archetypal Northern comedy characters who will turn her life upside down in a fun fashion. A will they/won’t they that will keep people guessing.”

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Tony played Kenneth du Beke in Benidorm. He has also had roles in the Summer of Rockets, The Job Lot, Edge of Heaven, Holby City, Blandings, Being Human, Place of Execution, Waking the Dead, Doc Martin, The Royal, Northern Lights, Eyes Down, and many more. The actor posted on Twitter about his new Corrie role,

Coronation Street Spoilers – COVID-19 Postponed Debut

Tony’s debut on the ITV soap opera was supposed to happen earlier this year. However, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic which shut down production and caused the nation to go under lockdown. A source explained back in April,

“He’s a great comedy actor and created one of Benidorm’s most-loved characters in Kenneth. So it’s a shame he didn’t get to start when he was supposed to. But he’s looking forward to making his entrance when things finally get back to normal.”
