Coronation Street spoilers reveal that fans have been looking forward to Beverley Callard possibly coming back. In light of the actress going through a harrowing medical ordeal, fans were hoping for Liz McDonald to get an exit storyline. However, that is not going to happen. Callard confirmed that she has shut the door on the soap forever.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Beverley Callard’s Medical Ordeal

Corrie spoilers reveal that last year, Callard was supposed to go in for a minor operation for a soft tissue tear in her right hip. She was told that the surgery was successful. However, within a few days, Callard would be in agony and the pain would just get worse. It ended up changing her life and at one point, she couldn’t even stand on her own two feet. At that time, Corrie bosses came out to offer her a way to come back and would work with her despite her limited mobility.

Last year, fans were hoping that despite Callard’s medical issues that she might come back to give everyone closure. That there would be some sort of exit storyline for Liz McDonald. However, it looks like that isn’t going to happen. This means that it’s possible we could see Liz be killed off-screen.

“It was a massive decision for me to make, but I believe I did it for the right reasons. I felt Liz had run her course. I’d hate to cheat any fans… I felt like she’d lost her way. Sadly, you can’t decide your own storylines and since I’m not going to film an exit they could even kill me off-screen. If they do I’ll accept it with grace. I’ve thought long and hard about this and I know that this time I’ve shut the door forever.”

Coronation Street Spoilers – Not Doing Liz McDonald Justice

The actress admits that she toyed with the idea of returning one last time, even with her concerns about COVID-19. However, she doesn’t feel that the writers will do Liz justice, especially under the current pandemic restrictions.

“I was actually toying with the idea of going back to film an exit, but I felt that they wouldn’t be able to do Liz justice under the current Covid restrictions.”

Liz McDonald was a fan-favorite character and people love the actress, as well. So, this is very sad news but we totally understand and respect her decision. We wish her the very best and as for if Liz’s absence is explained in the future, we will just have to keep watching the ITV soap opera to find out how that is handled.
