Also known as Steve McDonald on “Coronation Street,” Simon Gregson revealed that he has contracted coronavirus but is already feeling “a little better.” The shared the news about his health in his social media on April 9.
“1st day out of bed today starting to feel a little better after contracting the virus, my main symptom was gastric and still is bloody awful but lucky to not have respiratory. Stay safe everyone x,” the actor tweeted.
Fans Sent Gregson Their Well Wishes
Fans were quick to respond to Gregson’s tweet and wished him a quick recovery from the illness.
One fan said, “Simon so sorry to hear that you have the virus! Take care of yourself and get well soon! We all need you and Steve!”
“How did you know it was the virus were you tested?” another follower added.
A third one chimed in and said, “Oh gosh Bless you, so glad you’re feeling a little better. Get well soon god bless.”
Coronation Street Shuts Down Production
Gregson and other cast members of “Coronation Street” are currently on a hiatus after the show halted its production over the fear of the coronavirus pandemic. Filming has been suspended last month and soap stars were advised to stay at home to help stop the spread of the virus.
Show bosses have decided to cut back the number of episodes aired every week. Because of the reduced workload. Corrie bosses have furloughed more than 500 of its employees.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale Casts Reach Financial Deal
Even if production has been halted, the casts of “Coronation Street” and “Emmerdale” will have some financial security since they will remain compensated even if they’re not working amid today’s global health crisis.

A representative said, “Coronation Street and Emmerdale have reached an agreement with Equity to provide financial security for regular cast members for the next three months.”
“The specific details of this agreement will remain private as this is a contractual matter,” the spokesperson continued.
Meanwhile, members of the casting team, researchers, writers, and other staff members have been placed on the government’s furlough scheme, which means they’ll get 80% of their salary. Additionally, the ITV network said it’ll continue to top up the remaining 20%. There are no plans to resume production until the government lifts the lockdown.
