Coronation Street Spoilers: Trevor Michael Georges Dishes On Ed’s Downward Spiral In Michael’s Parentage Storyline

Coronation Street star Trevor Michael Georges tells fans what to expect as his character’s, Ed Bailey, emotional strength and endurance are put to the test in the ongoing storyline with Michael Bailey’s (Ryan Russell) parentage.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Ronnie Bailey Reveals The Real Reason for His Visit

In the previous episodes, the soap introduced a new character in Weatherfield, Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), Ed’s brother. Not long after, he revealed the real reason for his visit. He confessed to Ed that he and Aggie Bailey (Lorna Laidlaw) had a relationship before they started dating and he believes Michael may be his son. The revelation took place as the siblings both wait for Michael and Grace Vicker’s (Kate Spencer) child to be born.

Ed knows that no one is at fault since Ronnie and Aggie were together long before they met. But what bothers him is that he’s been with Aggie for 30 years and she never mentioned her past fling with his brother.

Georges said that this caused Ed to be “very confused – unstable, off-balance. Because they are such a wonderful couple and their relationship is built on so much experience and mutual understanding.”

However, Georges noted that Ed has to be careful not to be a hypocrite especially when it comes to keeping secrets. His character has kept his gambling secret for too long. “He understands that everyone around him has had to tolerate things as well. His relative poverty is always going to be a reminder of that,” he added.

Given his past mistakes, Ed knows he needs to “temper his responses” even if it involves dealing with his partner’s betrayal. What hurts him the most is how a complete stranger and a hunch can make the people around him question Michael’s parentage. And it’s making Ed feel “uncomfortable and unsafe.”

Despite his character’s current emotional struggles, Georges hopes that Ed’s moral compass won’t be changed by the recent events and for him to continue to be his family’s “peacemaker”.

Coronation Street  Spoilers – Michael Bailey Orders DNA Testing Kit

“Coronation Street” spoilers hinted that Michael will soon find out about the parentage issue between Ed and Ronnie. Ronnie will drop the bombshell and tell Michael that he may be his dad. The latter will confront Ed and amid the confusion, he’ll have his DNA tested to know the truth. Michael insists that regardless of the result, Ed will always be his father and that he’ll never accept Ronnie as his dad.
