Coronation Street’s Gareth Price Talks About Todd And Billy’s Future

Recent episodes in “Coronation Street” showed that Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) finally got what he wanted when Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) chose him over Paul Foreman (Peter Ash). In an interview with “Loose Women,” Pierce can’t say for sure that the pair “will go the distance.” When asked about specifics regarding Billy and Todd’s future, the actor simply replied, “Who knows, who knows.”

Pierce said that in soaps like “Coronation Street,” actors like him only what will happen within the next one or two months. This means he can’t say for sure what will happen next for the pair, which makes the storyline “exciting.”

“I really don’t know where the journey’s going, so it’s exciting for us as well,” the actor said.

Coronation Street – Gareth Pierce Explains Todd Grimshaw’s Behaviour

After all the scheming and manipulation, Todd finally got his way and Pierce is very much aware of what his character has done.

“He did, yeah, and fans are pretty apoplectic about it as well. Certainly Twitter was alive last night, with plenty of feeling that maybe Billy hadn’t made the right choice,” the actor said.

The actor also explained that he played his character in a way that viewers will see him as someone who does “scurrilous” things “for love.”

“As an actor, even if you’re playing a really hardened villain, you still have to find a way to get on the inside of them,” he said.

He added he played his character “with some compassion” and noted that Todd is “a bit broken.”

“I think that he was – and is – so in love with Billy, and he’s hurting, he’s jealous, he’s a bit ashamed as well in the way that he let down Billy but also Summer,” he explained.

He further explained his character’s behavior. He pointed out that people do “pretty ugly things” especially when they feel bad about themselves. Pierce finds this interesting especially when it comes to knowing why his character is doing such things.

Coronation Street – Todd Grimshaw To Face Consequences In Upcoming Storyline

Todd may have won Billy back after resorting to extreme lengths just to get him back. But he may soon get what he deserves in an upcoming storyline. Corrie boss Iain MacLeod hinted that Todd will soon face his comeuppance.

“Todd gets his happy ending but it’s already got a massive fracture in it. In a very explosive, dramatic – again quite thriller-ish – way later in the year, Todd’s machinations will all come to light and he’ll end up losing everything again,” he hinted.

“Todd being Todd, he’s fairly Teflon. He’ll lose everything again and then quite quickly set about reacquiring it, or something of equal value,” he added.
