Coronation Street’s Jane Danson Wants Leanne And Nick To “Stay Together”

Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby on “Coronation Street,” revealed that she hopes her character and Nick Tilsley will “stay together.” The actress added that Leanne still has feelings for Nick but needs to leave Weatherfield for the sake of their children.

Fans may recall that the on-off couple parted ways during the holidays. Their split led Nick to spend more time with Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), but it also left Leanne to deal with her grief for Oliver (Emmanuel and Jeremiah), alone. Nick was also led to believe by Simon that Leanne has already moved on with another man. Nick, who was left heartbroken, didn’t know that Leanne was trying to protect Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) from Harvey (Will Mellor).

Things have gotten worse for Leanne and her son, Simon and they’re forced to leave the cobbles. The actress revealed that Leanne wants to be with Nick because she “still loves” him. But her children are her first priority.

In a recent Zoom interview with the media including Digital Spy, Jane said “She feels like nothing can be as bad as losing Oliver. She’s been through the worst thing in her life, so she will do anything to protect Simon and if that means pushing Nick further towards Natasha, then sadly that might happen.”

Even though she still has strong feelings for Nick, she needs to protect her son even if that means pushing Nick away. She’s willing to sacrifice her love life for her son’s welfare, which Danson believes is the right decision.

But the actress also said that Leanne needs someone who can take care of her. Nick loves her and that’s why the actress wants the pair to be together. Danson wants the pair to have a future together. They’ve been through a lot and she wishes that the pair’s relationship will survive.

“It’s nice when people do stay together, otherwise if we split, I think we’d have to split for good. We’ve split up too many times. So, I’m hoping that we will come back together,” Danson explained.

When asked about her working relationship with actor Ben Price, the actress had all praises for him. “I love working with Ben. We’ve kind of worked together for ten years now, and we know each other so well. He’s a great friend, and I love our relationship.”
