Days of Our Lives actress Judi Evans had a serious horseback riding accident. It led to a series of medical mishaps, near amputation, contracting COVID-19, and the doctors discovered blood clots. What fans probably don’t know is that when she was on her horse, she was desperately running from a frightening situation. Three men with bad intentions were trying to surround her.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Coping With Grief and Depression

The DOOL cast member suffered from depression after the tragic death of her son, Austin on December 13, 2019. In May 2020, loved ones suggested that Judi start horseback riding again to cope with her grief. So, she took her horse out for a ride. Everything went fine, so she decided to do it again the next day. However, the second time would not go smoothly at all.

While out riding, Judi began to notice that her horse was behaving strangely. The animal was definitely uneasy and Judi would soon learn why. She noticed three men not too far away staring at her. They were all on horses and seemed to just pop out from another trail. One of them said, “Oh, there she is!”

“I didn’t want to stick around to find out what they meant, and neither did my horse.”

She was wise to listen to her instincts and fled the group as fast as she could. Not only did Judi have a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach, but the horse was spooked by them too. Based on them saying, “there she is,” it seems that they had been watching her and began following the actress. We highly doubt they just wanted an autograph.

The Days of Our Lives star told Soap Opera Digest that Judi and her horse whirled around and went through some marsh trails. She wanted to put as much distance as she could between herself and those men.

Suddenly, her foot slipped out of the stirrup. This caused her legs to grip to the side of the horse, which is the signal for “go faster.” However, she actually wanted the horse to stop! The animal was charging ahead and Judi estimates they were going 15 or 20 miles per hour. She realized that there was no way to regain control of the horse, so she planned on leaping off. The actress thought the sand would be soft enough to cushion her fall.

However, the sand was not soft. She knew that she broke some “bad things” on her left side.

The horse sped away toward the barn, but Judi’s keys and cell phone were in the saddlebag. Still fearing for her life and the intentions of the three men, she jumped up. She had no idea if she lost them, if they were nearby, or if there was even enough distance to where they wouldn’t find her. So, she gathered up her strength, willpower, and adrenaline and walked even though she had a lot of serious injuries. The actress explained that the fall caused 7 broken ribs, a broken collarbone, a few chipped vertebrae, and the force trauma also caused a bruised lung.

Thankfully, some strangers were passing by and saw Judi. Knowing she was seriously injured, they called 911. If they had not shown up, Judi could have collapsed from the severity of her injuries, or those frightening men could have caught up to her. We are so relieved that Judi Evans was able to get to the hospital and that she escaped such a frightening situation.
