GH Spoilers – Mike Corbin Continues To Deteriorate With Alzheimers’ Disease

Mike continues to deteriorate with Alzheimers’ Disease, and there’s a good chance that he will soon enter the final stages when he will not be able to communicate at all and not be able to take care of himself. So far, he can talk, although many times he doesn’t make much sense and thinks he is in a different stage of life than he is and thinks the people around him are someone else, but cognitively, he continues on a downhill slide.

But he will disintegrate into a much worse stage, where his brain will fail to control automatic processes such as being able to swallow, staying continent, and walking, talking, and eventually, his organs will start to fail because the brain won’t be able to control his body’s autonomic system.

General Hospital Spoilers – Sonny Corinthos Has Had To Accept Mike Corbin Is Too Far Gone For Experimental Treatments

Sonny has had to accept that Mike is too far gone for experimental treatments and that he needs to make the most of the time he has left with him. He had hoped that the side trip to Brooklyn would spur some memories of the old days for Mike, especially when he took him to the restaurant he used as his “office” when he was running the horse race betting as a bookie.

But he didn’t recognize any of it, although his old flirtatious side came out with the waitress; of course, the gunman’s attack didn’t help, and Sonny realized his dad was too far gone for the experimental treatment program he was trying to get him into in Manhattan when Mike thought he was a little boy scared he would be in trouble with his mama, and when the clinic called, he backed out of the appointment.

Of course, there were more issues than Mike’s meltdown he had to consider at the time; he couldn’t be sure that Mike would be safe from another mob hit even in the clinic because he didn’t know what or who he was up against, and he didn’t know about the other two attacks back home in Port Charles yet, either.

GH Spoilers – Mike Corbin Still Knows Who He Is – Just Not When!

So far, Mike still knows who he is – just not when! He goes in and out of different past stages in his life. He has become confused trying to perform common functions for a while now; General Hospital viewers will recall the sad episode when Sonny and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) came over to Turning Woods for a visit and he was trying to put a jigsaw puzzle together; he had taken off his shoes and was trying to figure out where in his shoes a puzzle piece went!

He was worried about someone taking his “wife” Yvonne Marcus (Janet Hubert) recently too, and it turned out she had to be put in the hospital and a feeding tube inserted so she could eat. She appears to be a stage ahead of him. But since that time he hasn’t mentioned her – perhaps he has forgotten that too now. Sonny will realize Mike doesn’t have much time left and he doesn’t have much time left with him and will appreciate the time he has left with him.
