A new, original mystery film series is coming to the Hallmark Channel and it looks really intriguing as the first episode airs on Sunday.

Premiering on Sunday, January 12, Hallmark’s new and original mystery series “Martha’s Vineyard Mystery: A Beautiful Place To Die” stars Jesse Metcalfe (“Desperate Housewives”) and Sarah Lind (“True Justice”).

The movie is based on the first of a series of 22 novels by Philip Craig, who has given Hallmark the option his first four mystery stories. Filming was done on lovely Victoria Island, close to Vancouver and Jesse Metcalfe not only stars but is an executive producer of the mystery film.

The synopsis of the film is that Jeff Jackson (Metcalfe) has been working as a detective with the Boston police. Having been forced to retire early, he heads back home to Martha’s Vineyard, moving into his late father’s home. He believes his life will be like any other retiree – relaxing and fishing, but that soon changes.

A mysterious visitor turns up dead

After a mysterious dead person is found, the local police chief asks for Jeff’s expert help. He is an old family friend and things have been quiet in Martha’s Vineyard, with more than 10 years gone by since someone was murdered there.

Due to the wealthy and powerful residents living on the island, the police chief has to clear up the murder and quickly. Jeff agrees to help, but it turns out the medical examiner is the police chief’s daughter, Dr. Zee Madieras (Sarah Lind) is also his ex.

Jeff and Zee will have to put aside any past differences they had to be able to cooperate, work together and most importantly, solve the mysterious crime. Jeff comes with a lot of baggage of his own, which he is not yet ready to talk about. Maybe he can open up to Zee, solve the murder and heal himself in the process.

The pair will have to discreetly investigate the lives of the influential residents on the island, as one of them could be the killer. Eventually, Jeff and Zee feel threatened and believe their lives are in danger. Time is short, as they have to solve the intriguing mystery before another dead body shows up on the island.
