Following on from the Deadly History cliffhanger, sleuthers have been waiting 18 months for the eighth Mystery 101 movie from Hallmark. Why is it taking Hallmark Channel so long to release another movie?
Where is the next Mystery 101 movie?
While Hallmark has released no new information on Mystery 101, some months ago, John Christian Plummer did confirm that he has written the eighth. So, there’s a script, at least. Moreover, fans might remember what Kristoffer Polaha said at Christmas Con in August 2022:
We have every intention of continuing the story of Travis and Amy. We just have to make sure that A: It’s the right way to do it. B: Jill’s available. C: I’m available.
Meanwhile, Polaha also reminded that “technically,” it has only been about one year, adding they are in TV land. Kristoffer has been in the acting business for more than two decades and he does understand there can sometimes be a wait between projects.
Are the stars too busy right now?
While there is little news out there from Hallmark about the next Mystery 101 movie, we do know the stars are pretty busy right now. For instance, Jill Wagner has been busy filming the new Taylor Sheridan series, Lioness. The movie is about a real-life CIA program called Lioness where specially trained women infiltrate families of terrorists to take them down before they can act.
Moreover, as recently reported, the series has an impressive cast, including Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman and Zoe Saldaña. Admittedly, the show is not expected to premiere on Paramount+ until later this year, the gritty series will contrast Jill’s roles in Hallmark Channel movies.
Kristoffer Polaha and A Biltmore Christmas
Meanwhile, Kristoffer Polaha has also been busy, filming A Biltmore Christmas for Hallmark, alongside Bethany Joy Lenz. As previously reported, the movie will air in Countdown to Christmas 2023. Moreover, the movie is a time-travel romance that looks to be truly beautiful, as they are filming at the historic Biltmore Estate itself.
Hallmark certainly seems to like time travel as the genre has featured in a number of movies and is currently involved in the new series, The Way Home. Moreover, both actors have been sharing set images for their respective projects and they are both clearly excited about their new roles.
In the meanwhile, fans can catch the Mystery 101 marathon on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Saturday, January 28, starting at 9 am ET.
