Lifetime Is Filming Gabby Petito And Brian Laundrie Biopic

Recently in the headlines, the contents of Brian Laundrie’s diary were made public, in which he allegedly admits to murdering Gabby Petito. Now, the latest headline is that Lifetime is making a biopic about Petito and Laundrie, titled The Gabby Petito Story. The movie will form part of Lifetime’s Stop Violence Against Women campaign.
Lifetime and The Gabby Petito Story
A biopic about Gabby Petito, 22, and Brian Laundrie, 23, is currently in the works for Lifetime. News of the upcoming biopic was released one day after the contents of Laundrie’s diary were made public. In that diary, he seemingly admits to murdering his girlfriend.
Titled The Gabby Petito Story, the biopic is being produced by Lifetime. Other controversial biopics produced by the network include Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland, Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance and Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le.
Filming is currently ongoing just outside Salt Lake City in Utah and the biopic is said to release later this year. Meanwhile, the biopic is directed by Thora Birth, who also plays the role of Nichole Schmidt, Gabby’s mother.

Footage has been leaked from the set of The Gabby Petito Story, revealing the actors playing Petito and Laundrie in a shouting match at a camping ground. As Gabby’s actor tries to calm Laundrie’s actor, he storms off in the now-infamous white van. His character says, “I’m f**king done. I’m f**king done with this sh*t.”
As reported by TMZ, in the eight-page confession, Laundrie admits to killing Gabby out of compassion. He wrote that she allegedly suffered an injury while they were hiking in Wyoming.

About the Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie case
Gabby Petito went missing and her body was eventually found in a Wyoming national park in September 2021. In January 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that her partner, Brian Laundrie, had admitted to killing Gabby in his diary. That diary was found near Laundrie’s body in Florida. An image of the page of the diary can be seen in the tweet included here:

Following this, in March 2022, Gabby’s parents filed a civil lawsuit against Brian Laundrie’s parents. In the suit, Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt (her parents) alleged that Brian had told his parents, Christopher and Roberta Laundrie on August 28 that he had killed Gabby.
Meanwhile, prior to her death,Gabby was building a successful YouTube channel as an aspiring travel vlogger. Their journey in the national park was to be filmed for her channel before she went missing.
