Sinners took the top spot over the last weekend at the box office. Other movies are also trending well. Read on to find out which ones are going strong and worth putting on your watch list.
A Strong Performance
From Friday, April 25th to Sunday, April 27th, 2025, Sinners pulled in $45.7 million in the United States, per IGN. It’s a strong performance by the “first horror movie “ by Ryan Coogler.

Looking at the recent daily box office numbers, the movie that stars Michael B. Jordan is performing consistently well. Clearly, there’s still a strong audience interest in vampire films. The movie’s total earnings in the US now stand at an impressive $123.2 million.
Another Popular Film
There were other notable performances at the box office. A special re-release of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith for its 20th anniversary made a strong debut. The classic film landed in second place with a weekend gross of over $25 million, proving that nobody ever gets tired of the Star Wars franchise.

When Kermode and Mayo’s Take reviewed it, the audience reaction was good. One fan said, “Saw today. Still great on the big screen. No speaker in the cinema went unused. Amazing!”
Another one wrote, “Prequels were fantastic tbh and hayden was epic. Such a tragedy. I came into it pretty blind and didn’t even know anakin would become vader, so perhaps i am in a unique position. The geo/intergelactic-political world building was done well IMO.”
‘The Accountant 2’ & More
The Accountant 2 is also making waves, and the sequel opened in third place, earning $24.5 million over the weekend. The solid start suggests that audiences were eager for the return of Ben Affleck as Christian Wolff, the main autistic character, and the continuation of the storyline.

The movie premiered on April 25, and lots of people were eagerly awaiting it. When the trailer dropped, one viewer said, “I like the more lighthearted tone because now Christian is trying to be more social and Braxton is showing him how to interact with people and do new things he never experienced…”
Dropping But Popular
Previously holding the top spot, A Minecraft Movie continues to draw audiences. The synopsis per Box Office Mojo was, “Four misfits are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world while embarking on a quest with an unexpected expert crafter.”

While it moved down to fourth place this weekend, it still brought in more than $22 million. At the moment, the overall domestic earnings sit at nearly $400 million.
