The Bachelor alum, Colton Underwood is open about his mental health issues, and ahead of the weekend, he opened up about how he struggled with suicidal thoughts. The ABC star is now married to Jordan C. Brown, and recently welcomed their first baby together.
Colton Underwood Took The Long Road To Love
The ABC star first appeared in The Bachelorette with Becca KufrinLater, Bachelor Nation fans saw him on Bachelor in Paradise. He seemed happy to meet and be with Tia Booth for a while, but they split. Finally, he was named as the lead for The Bachelor. Mosty famed for running away and jumping over the fence, he finally found love, but he took the long road to find his special love.
Colton Underwood had sent Cassie Randolph home, but, they ended up together for over a year before she ended things. The COVID lockdowns brought the first signs of tension between the couple, and they ended their relationship with quite a lot of toxicity. Eventually, the Bachelor Nation star came out, and he dated Jordan C. Brown before marrying last year.
Bachelor Alum Gets Candid On Mental Health
The ABC star chatted with People recently, and he revealed his mental health issues. Sadly, adjusting to accepting who he was inside had played havoc with his mind. So, he struggled with mental health issues. Like many people, he struggled to admit his sexual orientation, and that troubled him.
The outlet cited the ABC alum as saying that he attempted “suicide” because he felt there was no other way to continue living a lie. So, he tried but failed to take his own life. When he woke up, he grabbed his pup and went for help. He said
…I remember vividly staring into my dog’s eyes and realizing I needed help. That was my moment of, ‘I have to make some changes because I’m not healthy right now.” I immediately loaded my dog into my Jeep and drove 15 hours to Colorado to my parents
The Bachelor alum confessed his state of mind and seeing “a therapist and a psychologist and getting on a game plan” made a big difference. Fortunately, it seems as if Colton Underwood’s mom and dad wanted to help their son. Not everyone gets that which accounts for why, a few years ago, so many people kept themselves closeted away.
