Curse of Oak Island fans mentioned their skepticism about treasure even before Season 12 on the History Channel. But, they still hoped for some evidence that might rewrite world history. However, even that hope fades now, and they become more convinced there is no treasure.
Curse of Oak Island Gets Trolled
Viewers have followed Rick and Marty Lagina’s hunt for treasure in Nova Scotia for a long time. But, as everything always sounds so promising but comes to nothing, they started trolling the show. Still, that didn’t stop them from hoping that tea and spoilers spilled would bring some sort of movement.
Ahead of Season 12, of Curse of Oak Island, Dr. Ian Spooner dropped some spoilers about the metals in the water. According to him, they were not naturally occurring traces. And, they were significant enough to indicate a large quantity of precious metals in the area. So far, nothing spectacular has been found on the History Channel show.
There Is No Treasure In Curse Of Oak Island?
Fed up with the lack of evidence of treasure, History Channel fan u/kittyBoyLacroix seemed convinced there is no treasure. In their long caption on Reddit, they said, in part:
…Gary just found another..old button from a shirt and a musket ball…its over. EVERY piece of “evidence” they have is hearsay. The “stone tablet”…The “money pit,…the “flood tunnel”…the “box drains” nowhere to be found…And every time Marty is gonna pull the plug and stop wasting his money, one of these crooked “scientists” tells him they found “evidence”. They are NOT gonna give up the cash cow that Marty has proven to be…Gary has been getting a paycheck from Marty for 20 years picking up buttons and pennies. Its over…

Each season of the show promises so much and delivers so little, that it’s not surprising that fans of the show start to despair.
Other Fans React In The Discussion
Plenty of views seem to agree that the treasure seems remarkably elusive. But, many of them enjoy the history lesson. A lot of them can’t help but tune in season after season. Here are some of their reactions:
- Who’s going to be laughing when I’m watching season 57 at the nursing home and they finally find it? I will!
- At this point the treasure is the amount of money they’re making on the show. I would venture a guess that either the history channel covers the cost or the amount that they pay them makes this worth it.
- They also make bank charging to come tour Oak Island. Contractors work for the free advertising that’s why they keep changing . The true treasure is the people hooked on the idea that continue to watch or pay to tour the island.
- I…think Samuel Ball found it. He didn’t make all of that money farming cabbages.
