Josh Duggar had hoped to win in his child pornography appeal. But the court ruled that the disgraced 19 Kids And Counting alum’s appeal be terminated.
Find out about how Josh’s team filed an appeal. And keep reading to learn how his wife Anna Duggar reacted.
Josh Duggar – Loses Child Pornography Appeal
Court documents reveal that Josh Duggar’s child pornography appeal has been terminated. The ruling follows Josh’s legal team trying to appeal the guilty verdict in his December 2021 trial. But the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit ruled to uphold Josh’s conviction, reported In Touch.
Duggar’s latest legal appeal involved a request from his lawyer, Justin Gelfand for a new trial. And Gelfand claimed that federal agents allegedly seized Josh’s phone. By taking the phone, agents allegedly prevented Duggar from getting his attorney’s help amid a raid at his business.
“[Duggar] takes out his phone, physically puts it to his ear… for the purpose of contacting his legal counsel,” stated Gelfand. “Federal agents physically took the phone out of his hand and deprived him of the ability to communicate with his legal counsel. He was told he was free to go. No reasonable person in his shoes at that time would believe that.”

Josh Duggar – Remains In Prison, Wife Anna Reacts!
The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals turned down a new trial because the 19 Kids And Counting alum was free to move around amid his encounter with officers. However, the oldest son of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar did get a change to his prison release date.
Josh received a release date from Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) Seagoville in Texas of October 10, 2032. But that got changed to October 2, 2032. Duggar’s imprisonment came after a jury ruled him guilty on one count of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography in December 2021.
However, at first, Josh received a sentence of 12.5 years. But the original release date of August 12, 2032 became extended when officials found that he illegally possessed a cell phone. And throughout all of the scandal, Josh’s wife, Anna Duggar has remained by his side. However, an insider shared that Anna, 35, feels uncertain about the future of her marriage to Josh.
And she is “constantly praying” about what to do. “Anna is still very much questioning their future,” revealed the source. “She took her wedding vows seriously and she wants to stand by her man and all that,” added the insider. “But the reality of her situation is very difficult.” And the insider noted that Anna tries “to stay positive, but it’s not easy.” The couple wed in 2008 and share children Mackynzie, Maryella, Marcus, Mason, Michael, Meredith and Madyson.
