Mean girls turned out on social media to attack a certain Real Housewives Of New York City (RHONY) star for her decision to wear denim jeans to a (gasp) reunion episode. And the RHONY fans didn’t  hold back in slamming fashion guru Jenna Lyons for daring to don denim for her first Real Housewives Of New York City reunion. For instance, one critic threw shade via Page Six, noting, “It’s not an American Eagle jeans campaign.”

However, the 55-year-old RHONY star has become known for her love of jeans. And for the reunion, Lyons opted to match her beloved denim with a sheer top, tie, and blazer. Because Jenna famously worked at  J. Crew for 26 years, she has become known for her style choices. But Real Housewives fans didn’t feel that Lyons lived up to the reunion tradition of ballgowns, feathers, and dazzling outfits. 

And one fan pointed out that Jenna set the bar low for future reunion episodes. As a result of the RHONY star choosing jeans, the fan warned, “I don’t want to ever see anyone on this platform (myself included) write anything bad about Gizelle’s outfits or any of the ladies of Potomac. Jenna Lyons’ reunion look is horrible. Any other pair of pants would’ve been better.”

RHONY Spoilers – Jeanna Lyons Knows How To Steal Spotlight

However, some fans opined that Jenna made the choice in order to steal the reunion style spotlight. “Jenna knows how to be talked about and that’s why she wore that denim pants. She could’ve worn any other pair of pants like she done other times,” wrote one RHONY fan.

And another shared, “Jenna is supposed to be a fashion queen. But [she didn’t bring] anywhere near that at the reunion.” However, one viewer defended Lyons, declaring, “Fashion is self expression as well as over the top pretty dresses lol.”

But some viewers thought that the RHONY breakout star should have chosen more upscale pants. For example, one suggested, “I think tuxedo pants or cropped tuxedo pants would have looked amazing. Not a fan of the jeans either.” And the general consensus seems to agree with the Real Housewives viewer who proclaimed, “Jeans at a reunion is a no-no in MY BOOK. Idc if Anna Wintour herself required you to wear them.”

However, the rest of the Real Housewives Of New York City cast lived up to the reunion tradition. And Lyons’ co-stars Brynn Whitfield, Sai De Silva, Jessel Taank, Erin Lichy and Ubah Hassan opted for ultra-chic, sleek gowns. But Jenna used her Instagram to react to the backlash. And after donning her beloved denim pants topped with a sheer blouse and a black blazer, she asserted, “The reunion – yes I wore jeans and I am not sorry.”
