Savannah Chrisley recently appeared on Fox News and spoke with Lawrence Jones. When it aired last week, a lot of people slammed her for it. Now, people continue to do that. Meanwhile, reformers themselves dish the diss as well. Why is that?
Savannah Chrisley – Discovered Prison Life Is Bad
As soon as Todd and Julie started their combined 19-year sentences for fraud and tax-related offenses, the reality that prisons are not nice places, struck his daughter. The former The USA Network star has been in a dark place in her life before. But this time, she seemed shocked and blown away that her mom and dad actually sit in federal prison. More so, now that she made some discoveries about the conditions.
Savannah Chrisley has been talking about things like sanitary conditions and more on her own podcast, Unlocked. Plus, the Chrisley Knows Best alum appeared on several big-name influencers’ channels. Recently, she added a segment on Fox News Cross Country with Lawrence Jones to her resume. When she talked to him, she described herself as being “a poster child” for prison reform. Well, it seems that some reformers who were early to the party resent that.
Savannah Chrisley – Never Give Prison Reform A Thought
In her interview and again on Instagram this weekend, Todd’s daughter admitted that she never thought about what people endured in prison. After all, it didn’t affect her. And really isn’t that the case for most people in any situation? After all, unless something bad personally affects someone how often do they go off researching all the facts? Well, plenty of people slam her for her sudden interest in old and moldy prisons.
What does seem to be interesting, is that it’s not just scandal-driven Instagrammers who complain. This weekend, when she talked about criminal justice and cross-party political responsibilities, Savannah Chrisley took heat from people who have been fighting for reform. One commenter wrote, “You say it isn’t about your parents, but you were never interested in prison reform until your parents went to prison. I understand caring about your parents, but a lot of us have been advocating for prison reform for a long time.”
Perhaps, other people who have been involved in pushing for reform should welcome an influential personality into their club. After all not everyone gets to talk to Fox News. They are all preaching the same message. In fact, rejection of the TV star could be equated to someone joining a support group because their mom died of cancer. Would that person be condemned for being late to the party? What if they had the influence to shine a light on the prohibitive costs of treatment? Would she be pushed away?
Savannah Chrisley – Other Comments
Some people who like what Savannah Chrisley is doing about prison reform argued that it’s a good thing. One of them said in the replies, “…We should be thanking them for standing up and speaking because there is not enough of us who actually care or can go on national tv and speak about it !!!”
Others agreed, and one of them opined, “EXACTLY THIS!!!!! Why not welcome more people into the fight….to me it doesn’t matter why people’s eyes are opened, just the fact that they are opened.”
