King Charles Differs From Prince William In One Surprising Way

Royal family news articles often portray King Charles and his son Prince William as similar. And when it comes to Charles’ rebel son Prince Harry, such comparisons seem understandable.

However, a royal family expert just revealed one unexpected way in which William and Charles have become dramatically different.

Find out how Prince William and King Charles differ. And learn what a royal expert revealed about the father and son. Get all the details below.

Prince William Doesn’t Follow King Charles’ Lead In One Key Way

King Charles dealt with disappointment when his son Prince Harry betrayed him by dropping bombshells about the royal family in his tell-all memoir.

King Charles Differs From Prince William In One Surprising Way

And in contrast, Prince William seems like the ideal son. For instance, William obediently has participated in all his royal duties. But in one key way, Charles’ oldest son chose to differ from his royal father, noted the NY Post.

And William, 41, has chosen to become much less of a workaholic than King Charles, 74. Because William values family, royal correspondent Jennie Bond says that the prince wants his three children to see him as a key presence in their lives. As a result, William organizes his schedule so that he can participate in his kids’ activities on “weekends and holidays and whenever he can,” added Bond.

And as an example of the differences, consider how father and son manage their royal duties. William arranged to participate in 130 royal engagements last year. But King Charles showed up for 497 such engagements. However, Bond shared that William does not shirk his duties. And she noted, “With the late Queen’s ailing health, William probably had to step up to his full time royal job quicker than he might have hoped. But you can see now how committed he is.”

Prince William Has Become A ‘Hands-On’ Dad

And as Bond compares Charles and William, she admires the prince. “However, I also very much admire the fact that he’s not a workaholic like his father,” noted the royal expert. “He knows how important family life is.” And Bond praised William as a “full on, hands-on, caring dad.”

But William also makes time for important royal duties. For instance, this summer he created a project designed to end homelessness. And the prince hopes to prevent rather than manage those who have become homeless. He also wants to raise awareness about the issue, hopping to get his children involved as well.

Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, 41, sometimes take one or more of their three children on royal engagements. And Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, have enjoyed age-appropriate activities. But William also makes time for fun. For instance, he recently took George to a cricket match, complete with a shared pepperoni pizza.

But William has praised his father for his “amazing personal discipline.” However, the prince shared that he hopes his children enjoy more time with their grandfather in the future. “So, having more time with him at home would be lovely,” added William. “Because when he’s there, he’s brilliant. But we need him there as much as possible.”
