Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in Miami reportedly serving as speakers during a private event hosted by JP Morgan, as previously reported. It is now being speculated that the royal couple was paid up to $1 million for the speaking engagement. This, along with the fact that supporting fossil fuel firms goes against environmentalism, they are now facing public backlash. Keep reading to get the details.
Royal Family Supports Environmental Issues
It is no secret that the entire Royal Family supports healing and caring for the environment. In fact, at the beginning of the year, both Queen Elizabeth and Prince William addressed new initiatives for the cause. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also spoken about their concern for the environment, which makes their deal with JP Morgan a bit confusing.
JP Morgan Accused of Financing Fossil Fuel Firms
On the opposite side of the spectrum is JP Morgan. The business has been accused of throwing billions of dollars toward fossil fuel firms. This directly contradicts the Royal Family’s goal to save the environment and to make Planet Earth a healthier place for human beings to inhabit.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Paid Up To $1 Million
According to Page Six, Harry and Meghan were reportedly paid up to $1 million to speak at the private event at a ritzy Miami South Beach hotel recently. This is causing members of the public to bash the couple, along with the fact that they would “sell-out” to the fossil fuel-supporting company. However, it really depends on what exactly Harry and Meghan were speaking about, which has remained under wraps.
Royal Couple Faces Public Backlash
British public relations expert and author Mark Borkowski spoke about this issue to The Sun. He admitted that accepting the paid speaking engagement with JP Morgan was not the best decision.
“How they accept money, and from whom, is going to be a challenge going forward.
“Once you start speaking about fitness, we all want to go to the gym and stay fit — well why don’t we do the same with our heads and keep mentally fit as well?”

Twitter also has exploded with their opinions, with one user writing, “Financing led by JP Morgan has provided more than $700bn of new investment for fossil fuel companies, most aggressively expanding in new coal, oil and gas projects… Harry and Meghan need to choose wisely.”
