Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Successful Netflix Docuseries Fails To Bag An Emmy

Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle delighted fans with a Netflix docuseries that shone a light into the reason they decided to exit the royal family.

For the first time, they also gave fans an insight into their love story, with a scene even showing Harry on bended knee proposing to Meghan.

Now, two children and five years later, the couple are still trying to find their way in Hollywood. Just not with the Emmys, I guess.

As the world prepared to get their Christmas on, Harry and Meghan unpacked a six-part documentary that further aired their grievances against the Royal Family one more time.

While the docuseries had many critics, none of them can say that it did not perform, as it became Netflix’s second highest viewed documentary program, behind only “The Tinder Swindler.”

Harry and Meghan worked with acclaimed director Liz Garbus on the series to be able to tell their story in a most enticing, dramatic and complete way.

However, before the series dropped, Meghan seemed to reel back from some of the things on the documentary when she said that she and her husband didn’t have much creative control over it.

Happily for fans, they did not lose the entire war with the Emmy snub, as they’re in line to receive the Hollywood Critics Association Awards in the category of Best Streaming Nonfiction Series.

Yes, you heard me. On Tuesday, the couple’s documentary was announced as one of the works in the running to pick up the honor.

In the documentary, Harry and Meghan addressed what they thought was a racially biased coverage from the UK media, with Harry saying, “As far as a lot of the family was concerned, everything that she was being put through, they’d been put through as well.”

The Duke added: “So, it was almost like a rite of passage. Some of the members of the family were like, ‘But my wife had to go through that, so why should your girlfriend be treated any differently? Why should you get special treatment? Why should she be protected?’ And I said, ‘The difference here is the race element.’”

Since then, Harry has released a best-selling memoir, with Meghan reportedly working on revamping her The Tig blog.
