Prince Harry changed for the worse after tying the knot with Meghan Markle, claims one of the Duke of Sussex’s closest friends. And the pal blames Harry’s shift from a merry mad lad to a gloomy guy on Meghan herself.

Don’t expect to enjoy a fun time if you visit the Duke of Sussex, warns his close friend rugby player James Haskell. And Haskell blames Prince Harry’s unhappy state on marrying Meghan Markle, per the Daily Mail.

But give James credit for staying loyal to the Duke of Sussex. In his tell-all memoir, Harry described how some other friends slammed him for his negative account of the royal family. However, Haskell remained in touch with the Duke of Sussex.

And after attending Harry’s wedding, James revealed that the two discuss parenting. The former England rugby star even backed Harry’s decision to write that bombshell-dropping memoir. “When someone feels like they and their partner have been oppressed, lied about, contradicted and put into a corner, I think it’s very important [to speak out],” said Haskell.

Meghan Markle Changed Prince Harry For The Worse

And Haskell described how much fun he and Harry enjoyed before Meghan entered the scene. James recalled meeting up with Harry at the 2011 wedding of his friend and fellow former England rugby star Mike Tindall to Zara Phillips.

And Haskell said, “Who should be there, wandering around having a good time, but Prince Harry. He hadn’t met her [Meghan] yet, so he was still quite fun,” added James on stage at Bath Forum, in Somerset, for the World Cup Afterparty: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Cheers and applause greeted the commentary on how Meghan made Harry unhappy. However, both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced the “most difficult and challenging” year since quitting their royal duties, per MSN. And the couple watched their popularity fall.

Meghan Markle Falls In Popularity Polls

But Harry and Meghan need to blame themselves, according to some experts. It seemed clear that the couple’s repeated criticism of the royal family backfired. But rather than get the message, Harry and Meghan persisted in giving critical interviews about his royal relatives.

“Harry and Meghan have certainly had one of their most difficult years with one PR nightmare after another, making 2023 one of their most challenging,” pointed out entertainment expert and founder of MarkMeets, Mark Boardman. But he noted that “exceptions” exist. 

For instance, “the Duke of Sussex’s successful Invictus Games always prove popular with viewers,” added the entertainment expert. But both Meghan and Harry had hoped that their Netflix documentary would cause their popularity to soar. However, instead, their approval ratings plummeted.

But at this point, Prince Harry ranks higher on popularity polls than Meghan. However, the success of her show Suits on streaming platforms hints that the Duchess of Sussex could still succeed as an actress in the future.
