Royal Family News: BBC’s Amol Rajan Apologizes To Monarchy After Dragging Them

British royal family news shows that the reporter who slammed the monarchy in print then hosted a BBC show dragging them has apologized for his biased rants. It is the second time this year that the broadcaster’s reporters have had to issue public apologies for unsavory comments and behavior toward the royals.

Amol Rajan is the BBC journalist who hosted the recent controversial documentary The Princes And The Press. After his objectivity was called into question he has now owned up to his past behavior which is anything but unbiased toward the royal family.

It looks like the BBC is embroiled in yet another embarrassing imbroglio involving the royals. This year the broadcaster publicly apologized to the monarchy after it was shown that they colluded in a coverup with the host of a blistering interview with the late Princess Diana.

One would think they learned a lesson, but this deja vu incident calls their learning curve into question. After allowing Martin Bashir to soil their reputation, the BBC has now allowed Rajan, who wrote divisive articles about the royals in 2012 for The Independent, to do the same.

Today Rajan apologized for his past comments which show he is anything but objective when it comes to reporting on the royals. He is also an avowed republican, someone hellbent on demolishing the monarchy.

Today Rajan tweeted in defense of himself, “In reference to very reasonable questions about some foolish commentary from a former life, I want to say I deeply regret it. I wrote things that were rude and immature and I look back on them now with real embarrassment, and ask myself what I was thinking, frankly….” Would he be questioning his juvenile commentary if he had not been exposed?

In a second tweet, he said, “I would like to say sorry for any offence they caused then or now. I’m completely committed to impartiality and hope our recent programmes can be judged on their merits.”

Royal Family News – The BBC Has To Account For Its Reporting

Rajan may say he is objective but his past reporting indicates otherwise. In one column he called the late Prince Philip a, “racist buffoon.” He also called Prince Charles, “scientifically illiterate.” He’s entitled to his opinion, but why is he suddenly calling time-out on himself? Is it a case of true regret or simple CYA?

The latest embarrassment for the BBC comes after director-general Tim Davie said, “last year that he would crack down on staff posting their views online to ensure impartiality, and staff could even be forced off Twitter if they fail to meet the ‘high bar,’ according to the Daily Mail.
