British royal family news reveals that some royal experts are calling time out on a disparity in medals between Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and his uncle Prince Edward.

After Megxit Prince Harry was eventually stripped of his military titles which seem in line considering how he abandoned the monarchy. And yet Edward actually dropped out of military training and retains eight titles.

The subject comes up as Harry and American wife Meghan Markle managed to sail through Memorial Day in California on Monday and not cause a scandal at the LA Veteran’s Cemetery as he did last year.

It was just three months ago that Harry was stripped of his military titles despite the fact that he is a war veteran who has was on the frontline in Afghanistan. There he reportedly fired on the Taliban from an Apache helicopter.

That service does not supersede his quitting royal life and leaving his duties in the dust. As such he cannot wear his military uniform to royal events such as Prince Philip’s funeral which happened in April.

Although Harry has been stripped, Prince Edward, who quit four months into training for the Royal Marines, is a full-fledged honorary medal keeper.

In all, he has eight ceremonial military appointments including the Royal Colonel of 2nd Battalion The Rifles, Royal Honorary Colonel of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry, and The London Regiment and Commodore-chief of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.

At Trooping the Color, Queen Elizabeth II’s official birthday parade held each June, her son Edward wears a military uniform, and at one 2017 event, he wore all but one honorary medal according to The Sun.

At Prince Philip’s funeral, Edward wore at least five medals across his chest, plus the star for his Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order honor.

Disgraced Harry was seen with three medals on his chest plus the neck order and star for his Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order honor, given by the queen in 2015.

Royal Family News – Why Does Edward Retain Military Titles?

So, why did Prince Edward quit? His commandant Colonel Ian Moore told The Guardian, “Let me make it quite clear that he was doing well in his training. He was respected by his instructors, who all had a lot of time for him. He had all the physical ability to complete his training satisfactorily – indeed well.”

He added, “He got a very good report from Major Bancroft out of his initial training and all the indications are he had a good career ahead of him.”

“There is disappointment here, but we do understand and all members of the corps feel the same way. He left with very warm regards for us and us for him.”

Which perhaps is a polite way of saying that intel on why Edward quit is on a need-to-know basis, and we don’t need to know!
