British royal family news reveals that even when given the opportunity to present a united front, Princes William and Harry chose to stay apart. Today the brothers honored recipients of the Diana Award but there was no mingling on their part. William met with the winners face-to-face while Harry addressed the audience via video. While the two were in different countries, they could have chosen to make a joint video appearance at some point but they did not.

Instead, William the Duke of Cambridge met the winners at Kensington Palace, and Harry the Duke of Sussex appeared on a screen.
The Diana Award debuted in 2017 to celebrate the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, on the 20th anniversary of her death. Later an awards ceremony will be held at Althorp House. The event is to be hosted by Diana’s brother Earl Spencer, and happens on December 9. This year’s winners were selected by an independent judging panel helmed by Earl Spencer.
The awards are given out every two years. Both William and Harry presented the debut awards, together and in person, at St. James’s Palace in 2017. The winners hail from the UK, Taiwan, Colombia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and the US.
The Diana Award runs anti-bullying and mentoring program and acknowledges young people’s inspirational work.

Tessy Ojo is the chief executive of The Diana Award. In a statement she announced, “The pandemic continues to disrupt lives and exacerbate social inequalities. But out of the darkness of Covid, young people are standing up to shape change in their communities across the world.”
“Their compassion, determination and agency to make positive change today and in the years ahead is immense. They couldn’t be a more fitting tribute and lasting legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales and her belief that young people have the power to change the world.”

Royal Family News – The Diana Awards Recognize Youth
Alex Kalomparis is the senior vice president of public affairs at the award’s sponsor Gilead Sciences. He said of the award winners, “These young people represent the next generation of change-makers and innovators across the globe and it is their stories we should listen and learn from. This is why Gilead Sciences is supporting The Diana Award which seeks to recognize those young people who are already making strides for social and humanitarian change.”
Prince William said earlier this year that, “Organizations like The Diana Award have never been more important in nurturing the talent of young people and working with them to change the world for the better by celebrating their successes; creating opportunities for growth; and ensuring that young people have a seat at the table.”
