911 Lone Star: Rob Lowe Series Getting Saved After Cancellation?

911 Lone Star: Rob Lowe Series Getting Saved After Cancellation?911 Lone Star was a fan favorite on FOX for five seasons, and wasn’t having any trouble pulling in viewers and stellar ratings.

Sadly, Rob Lowe’s popular series was cancelled this year and its final episode aired on FOX on February 3, 2025.  Word on the internet is that 911 Lone Star could be saved and return to TV, here’s what we know so far.

911 Lone Star Cancelled

911 Lone Star fans were shocked when FOX pulled the plug on the wildly popular medical drama starring Rob Lowe and Angela Bassett.

Generally when a series is cancelled, it’s because it wasn’t doing well in the ratings department and fans see the writing on the wall months in advance.  But, that wasn’t the case with Lone Star.

It turns out that the Rob Lowe and Gina Torres series was incredibly expensive to produce and film, and despite the good ratings the network couldn’t keep footing the bill.

Not only was FOX forking out millions of dollars every episode to the cast (Rob Lowe, Angela Bassett, Gina Torres, and more), but they also had to finance all those fiery crashes and explosions.

There’s a big difference between a series like 911 Lone Star and a series like This Is Us on NBC that is basically an hour of dialogue.

Showrunner Ryan Murphy opened up about the cancellation while chatting with Deadline last fall.  Murphy explained that the “financials just weren’t working” because it was a “Disney show on FOX.”

It was also revealed that several of the cast members were trying to renegotiate their contracts and the network simply couldn’t afford to keep them on.

Will Netflix Save 911 Lone Star

In the past when a successful series like 911 Lone Star was axed, streaming services bought the rights and resurrected it.

And, it wouldn’t be the first time a streaming giant picked up a cancelled Ryan Murphy drama.  Companies like Netflix and Hulu can afford to pay the cast and film the blockbuster scenes.

So far there’s no indication that 911 Lone Star is making a comeback, but Murphy does have another show from the 911 franchise in the pipeline on ABC.  Do you think Netflix or Hulu could swoop in and save 911 Lone Star? Were you sad to see the show cancelled?

I loved the 911 lone star show it was exciting and you could relate to the characters. You cried and laughed with them it felt like you were there with them in all the drama. It showed that it doesn’t matter who you are that people can work and get along no matter what. That a family is not just made up of blood but from love and care. Please bring back my family.
