Grey’s Anatomy: Ellen Pompeo Reunites With Two Beloved Doctors

'Grey's Anatomy': Ellen Pompeo“Grey’s Anatomy” star and showrunner Ellen Pompeo shared a short video on her Instagram account showing two beloved former Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital’s doctors Eric Dane (Mark Sloan) and Justin Chambers (Alex Karev) during a night out on weekend.

In the video, Ellen draws closer to Dane to pose for a picture as the bleached-blonde Justin comes up behind putting a white table napkin on his arm and asks “What would you like for dinner?” and Ellen laughs. Pretending to be a waiter, Chambers appeared in the next slide of the post with the words “It’s a hard knock life” written by Ellen.

Grey’s Anatomy Plane Crash

Fans last saw Dane in season 9 after playing Mark “McSteamy” for six seasons. Together with other doctors Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh), and Dane got into a plane crash in 2012.

The rest of them survived, except for Lexie, who was crushed under a piece of the plane. Later in the episodes, Mark died due to his injuries.

Chambers last played Alex Karev last year after portraying him for over 15 seasons. Fans were left heartbroken when Alex left his wife Jo (Camilla Luddington) unexpectedly leaving her only with a letter. Alex reunited with his former spouse, Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl).

Grey’s Anatomy COVID-19 Storyline Explained

Dane previously appeared in a surprise cameo in the long-running ABC medical drama’s season 17 alongside former cast members including Lexie to visit Meredith in a coma beach as the main lead was fighting for her life after getting COVID-19.

Later last year showrunner Krista Vernoff explained their decision to give Meredith COVID-19 when positive rates across the world were reaching the sky.

“Health care workers are on the front lines of this crisis, living through a war for which they were not trained. We saw an opportunity to dramatize and illuminate their plight through the incredibly well-loved and well-known character of Meredith Grey,” Vernoff told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Doctors and nurses are fighting for us and falling for us. The least we can do is wear a mask, socially distance, and stay home whenever possible,” she added.

Just last month, MBC’s highest-rated drama’s renewal for season 18 was confirmed with Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens, Jr. starring for the new season.
