Outlander Author Diana Gabaldon Teases Book 10 Amid News of Final Season

Outlander spoilers, news, and updates tease Diana Gabaldon gives fans some updates about Book 10. She also hinted that the Outlander universe continues to expand. These give viewers hope that there will be newer projects even though their beloved show is ending.

Outlander Spoilers – To End After Season 8

Starz has confirmed that Outlander will be coming to an end following the eighth season. It’s by far the network’s longest-running original series. The news of the show’s conclusion made the headlines before the premiere of season 7 this summer.

“For nearly a decade Outlander has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion,” Kathryn Busby, Starz President of Original Programming, said.

“But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore this dynamic world and its origin story. We’re thrilled to continue to partner with Matthew, Maril, and Ronald and can’t wait to see where their alluring storytelling takes us next,” she announced.

Fans can expect 16 full episodes, which are based on Gabaldon’s seventh book, titled An Echo in the Bone. Meanwhile, the final season will only have 10 episodes and will be based on Gabaldon’s eighth book titled Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.

Outlander’s Spoilers – Prequel Underway

The Saga of the Fraser family continues even though Outlander is coming to a close with an eighth and final season. Starz is creating a prequel series titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Familiar faces and names will be featured in the new series.

The spinoff will follow the love story of Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie. It will be set at a time when love is seen as a luxury and marriages happen for financial and political gain. How far will the characters go to find love? That’s exactly what the new series will explore.

“With Jamie and Claire, and now Brian and Ellen, there is still so much more to come in the Outlander universe, and we cannot wait to continue sharing these stories with our dedicated fans,” Roberts said.

Season seven cast members include Caitríona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, David Berry, Caitlin O’Ryan, Paul Gorman, Charles Vandervaart, Izzy Meikle-Small, and Joey Phillips. Gabaldon remains as a consulting producer for the spinoff, while Matthew B. Roberts will remain as its showrunner.
