James Spader Reveals Reason Why The Blacklist Is Ending

The Blacklist spoilers, news, and updates tease that James Spader dropped some hints as to why the show is ending after 10 seasons. The actor, who plays the role of Raymond Reddington, talked to NBC and discussed why he believed the show would end with season 10.

Viewers loved Spader’s character, Raymond, who helps the FBI Task Force in taking down elusive criminals and some of the world’s most wanted. In the show’s upcoming 200th episode, Spader’s alter ego will “confront unparalleled danger” when his identity as an FBI informant becomes at risk of getting exposed. Not only that, the episode will feature familiar faces which appeared in the previous season.

Spader said that the show would be different if it gets renewed for another year.

“And I think that the thing that has been nice about this show was that we’ve never really had a really clear paradigm for the show,” he said.

“Tonally the show shifts a lot from episode to episode, and I think that even the show has taken strange turns, and I suspect that the show if it went much further, would just become something that would be less recognizable to me,” he added.

The Blacklist – Execs Open Up About Upcoming End

Showrunner and executive producer John Eisendrath said they’re honored to be a part of the show. They’ve been working alongside each other for 10 years, and next week, they’ll be airing the show’s 200th episode.

He had fun creating and developing Spader’s character. He thanked everyone at Sony and NBC, including the crew, cast, writers, and producers, who made all of these possible.

“We appreciate our dedicated fanbase who came along for this wonderful ride and are excited to share this final season with them,” he said.

Liza Katch, the president of scripted content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, noted that not all series could resonate deeply with their audiences. But their show aired for 10 seasons which proved that everyone behind the show worked well together behind the scenes.

“A huge thank you to our partners at Sony, everyone from the past decade who made this show an integral part of NBC’s storied history, and, of course, a special nod to James Spader, whose performance remains nothing short of spectacular,” she added.
