Dominic West Said He Couldn’t Bring Himself To Alert Prince Harry Of His “The Crown” Role Personally

Yes, Netflix’s “The Crown” is all the internet wants to talk about these days. And you can’t blame ’em. After weeks of speculations and a million theories about how controversial the movie will be, it finally drops and tops everyone’s expectations.

Who would have thought they’ll portray Diana as an empty-headed person who flirts at the unlikeliest of times, and yet this is what they choose to do. Or that Charles could be made a scheming and mean individual? Well, if I was Dominic West, I wouldn’t be reaching out to Charles after reading the script and seeing how I’ll be portraying the 73-year-old.

Dominic West Says That He’s Dropped His Friendship With Prince Harry For Years

Speaking on his friendship with Prince Harry, Dominic West said that he didn’t consider it wise to reach out to him about his part in “The Crown”. “I didn’t think it was appropriate to call him up and ask him for tips,” Dominic West, who plays Charles in Season 5 of the Netflix series, told Entertainment Tonight during “The Crown’s” premiere in London.

“I haven’t spoken to him for many years. We did walk to the South Pole together with a lot of wounded soldiers, so I got to know him pretty well.” Dominic West did try to reach out to Charles with the message that he’ll be playing him in what has been known as “the most controversial season” of “The Crown”.

“I just thought I would inform the Prince’s Trust that I was playing the part,” he told ET. “And I felt they had a right to know that. So, that’s as far as it went.” We don’t know whether the Royals will actually be tuning in like the rest of us to watch the series, but Prince Harry did reveal one time that he does watch it from time to time. He also told James Corden that the series doesn’t “pretend to be news. It’s fiction. But it’s loosely based on the truth.”

Angela Levin, the author of Prince Harry’s biography, once said that Harry told her that he considers the series good fun, that is, as long as they ended it before reaching his time.
