Queen’s Only Daughter Gives Her Majesty A Headache As She Seeks To Remarry

Among the harsh topics explored by the royal drama was the Queen’s annus horribilis year; a year the royal called one she would not be looking back on. Weary from the fire and the fact that her relationship with Philip is becoming distanced, Princess Anne (played by Claudia Harrison) adds to the Queen’s pain when she comes in with a proposition of her own. She wants to get remarried after divorcing her first husband.

This is a hard task for Her Maj as this goes against the rules of the church, for which she is the head. When the Queen tries to reason with Anne, she resists, and even goes ahead to ogle her new man in front of her mother.

But that’s not the only headache that the Queen is currently facing as her husband Philip (Jonathan Pryce) is increasingly drawing closer to beauty Penny Knatchbull, even as he accuses her family of failing to rescue his Romanov relatives, who died at the hands of the Bolsheviks. To add to the headache that the Queen is going through, Princess Margaret comes into the picture.

Princess Margaret – Slams Queen For Separating Her From the Love Of Her Life

Once upon a time, young Princess Margaret (Lesley Manville) fell in love with Peter Townsend, a divorcé. But because of the rules at the time, they were forced to go their different ways. In the fifth season, we see Margaret reunite with her true love Peter Townsend, but he’s suffering from terminal cancer.

Heartbroken and distressed, she accuses Her Maj for refusing to let her marry Peter because he was divorced, while she let her own daughter remarry after she divorced.
