TLC ’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Varya Jokes She Is ‘Putin’s Spy’ and Calls Tennessee Locals ‘Rednecks’

TLC '90 Day Fiancé' Spoilers: Varya Jokes She Is 'Putin’s Spy' and Calls Tennessee Locals 'Rednecks'TLC 90 Day Fiancé star Varya Malina posted on Instagram about her visit to America and mentions being ‘Putin’s spy’ while referring to a taxi driver as a ‘redneck.’

Varya Malina and Geoffrey Paschel have been fan favorites on the latest season of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days. Malina is now back at home in Russia, while Geoffrey is in Knoxville, Tennessee. During her recent and controversial surprise visit to America, Geoffrey ended up proposing to her for a second time and she accepted. Geoffrey wanted to show Varya around and they went on to have fun for the rest of her visit to America. This “fun” included referring to herself as “Putin’s spy” and calling a taxi driver a “redneck.”

90 Day Fiancé star Varya and her American vacation

90 Day Fiancé fans have no doubt picked up the fact that Varya has a quirky sense of humor. She can be really funny, when she isn’t in the middle of a fight with Mary. In her recent Q&A video on YouTube, she claimed to love adventure sports. While doing the rounds in Knoxville, Tennessee, Geoffrey decided to have fun, taking her on a rollercoaster ride at Dollywood. It turns out she isn’t that adventurous after all!

After her trip, Malina headed to Instagram to make a lengthy post about her vacation in America. The accompanying image shows Varya relaxing happily in nature. In her caption, she starts by writing “Time for stories.” She goes on to ask herself how she would characterize Americans in one word. Before her visit to the US, Varya would have said “a smile.” She now has more experience of American culture, and says “political correctness” is a better term for Americans.

How to offend a taxi driver in America when Russian

As noted by The Blast, as America is a multinational country, Varya has learned how easy it is to “offend someone with an incorrectly spoken word.” She explained that one day she had to hire a taxi to get to an interview. Describing the driver, she said he was a man of an age where ladies are entertained by stories of guns and fishing, rather than compliments. The Russian beauty decides now is the perfect time to find out more about life in Tennessee.

Varya says she struck up a “nice conversation” with the taxi driver but had problems understanding him. She described his southern accent as making it sound like he “chewed his words before pronouncing them, and then swallowed the vowels.” At first, she could only understand roughly 20 percent of what he was saying to her.

Varya knows humor is the best way to win someone over, so she starts joking about being “Putin’s spy.” They both laughed at that. However, the driver then asked Malina what she has found out about the locals in Knoxville, Tennessee. It was all downhill from there.

Varya smilingly said to the driver that “everyone here has moonshine and you are rednecks.” She said she was sure she was making a joke, so she giggled. However, the taxi driver’s attitude completely changed. According to Malina, “he frowned and did not utter a word.” For the rest of the ride, the driver completely ignored Varya. He turned up the music and then started talking to his friend on speakerphone. According to Malina, it was as if a “curtain” (iron curtain?) had come down.

90 Day Fiancé star passes the blame to Geoffrey

Varya admits it was Geoffrey’s fault. He had jokingly said people living in the area called themselves “rednecks.” He laughed and told her it related to their “neck tan.” However, when Varya later looked the term up on Google, she found out how much she had insulted the taxi driver.

Malina now believes Americans are “very resentful of sharp, but honest statements.” This is likely why many Americans consider Russians to be “brutally honest.”
