Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) is playing games on ‘The Young and the Restless’. At least that’s how Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) feel. Of course they’re hiding the truth from Detective Rosales about what really happened to J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill), which is the real reason for the Newman family’s freight and the entire coverup crew’s peril.
Finding and presenting evidence, questioning person’s of interest in an ongoing investigation, and working toward the truth is Rey’s job. But two entitled Genoa City divas don’t see it that way. Why would they when the great Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has role modeled how to skirt the law.
An ever-expanding quantity of cover crew actions are intended to hide reality. Nikki accidentally killed J.T. eight months ago, after which she, Vickie, and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) voluntarily chose to not contact the GC Police Department, which was then headed by Paul (Doug Davidson). Nikki was foolishly persuaded by Phyllis to believe that Chief of Police Williams couldn’t be trusted, which was wrong.

Yes, Paul and Christine (Lauralee Bell) had it out for Victor at the time. Their seemingly misguided price-fixing target was the ‘Moustache’ and yes, they’d pressured J.T. to bring Victor down. But Nikki was not suspected of anything other than possible being aware of her husband’s dealings.
Phyllis was worried that her age-old attempt to run down and kill ‘Pristine’ would be used to put her in jail. So she used the J.T. mess to her own advantage, which Sharon (Sharon Case) instinctively opposed. To her discredit, Case’s character eventually agreed to throw-in with the rest.
The only reason why Nikki, Vickie, and Phyllis dislike Rey’s approach is because this trio remains on the wrong side of the law. Take, for most recent instance, their gangster-like kidnap of Tessa (Cait Fairbanks).
Sharon, to her current credit, has allied herself with Rey. That choice may save jail time when her hard-working colleague breaks this case, which the Newman ladies and Phyllis believe, in their back of their minds, is an increasingly likely possibility.
