Soap stars may be the unsung heroes of TV entertainment, but Braeden deserves some deep love and appreciation.

In April, the “Young and the Restless” star broke the news that he was diagnosed with cancer. In addition to this, he experienced a postrate issue while he was yet recovering from knee replacement surgery.

It was at this time that his doctor diagnosed him with cancer, leading to him undergoing a six-week immunotherapy plan. This meant that he was treated for high-grade cancer cells that were found near his bladder.

This summer he returned with a better and brighter news when he revealed that he has been officially declared cancer free four months after the initial diagnosis.

Y&R Spoilers – Eric Braeden Shared That He Harbors No Plan Of Retirement.

“No, hell no, no, no,” was his reply to a question on when he plans to retire.

Laughingly, he added, “I’ve known friends and colleagues of mine… athletic friends of mine who suddenly are retired. And now what? Pickleball?”

It must be heartwarming to fans for them to know that Victor Newman – the character Braeden has portrayed on “Young and the Restless” since 1980, will not be leaving our screens anytime soon. It would be interesting to note that he wasn’t initially supposed to last that long in the show.

Originally, he was meant to be a guest star on the show and last only 8 to 12 weeks. You know how that worked out, don’t you? He has since grown to become the leading male character.

Even though Braeden has been a continuous character on the long-running TV show, he has also appeared on other projects like “Charlie’s Angels,” “Murder,” “She Wrote,” “The Ambulance,” and “How I Met Your Mother.”
