Young and the Restless Spoilers: Kyle All In For Skyle Reboot – Will Couple Make It Work This Time?

Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) realized that he loved Summer Newman (Hunter King) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. That came as an unwelcome surprise for ‘Kola’ fans who witnessed Kyle express his undying love for Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle) and then marry her months ago at a big wedding ceremony.

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) has a close connection to both people, with Kyle being his youngest son and Summer being the child he delivered in an elevator at Newman Enterprises all those soapy years ago. Jack’s love for them quickly allowed him to embrace this dramatic change in both of their lives, with Kyle getting a divorce from his wife to be with Summer and King’s character finally reclaiming her true love.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Skyle’s History Reconsidered

The reboot of ‘Skyle’ isn’t outlandish, as Kyle and Summer do have a history. But it’s fair to cite a few plot points in this regard.

As hardcore fans recall, five actors have portrayed Kyle since 2012, with Mealor being the fifth edition. Except for a brief period in 2018, when Bayley Corman (Summer) played the character, King has filled the role since 2012. So, ‘Skyle’ can’t reasonably be cited as one of Y&R’s epic couples, which can partially be defined through length, depth, and the on-screen chemistry between two long-standing actors.

Mealor has portrayed Kyle since 2018. He was serious about Summer when she literally drove to Genoa City, Wisconsin, upon King’s return to the cast after a break due to her being part of the cast of the nighttime sitcom, ‘Life in Pieces’.

King’s character was purposely devolved two years ago, with Summer breaking from Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) inspired tag as a ‘Snowflake’ into a person who was almost all about herself, similar to her mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).

Y&R Spoilers – Summer Newman Knew All Along

Summer said from the beginning that Lola wasn’t right for Kyle. It was easy for him to shrug off Summer’s take as biased because he knew (believed) that perspective reflected hopes, instead of reality.

Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) also believed he saw a mismatch between Kyle and Lola after he came to GC and decided to stay. The later revealed blood cousin also came to fall for Calle’s character, which incensed Kyle to a degree that went beyond the planned wedding crash, which included Zoe Hardisty (Anna Grace Barlow).

Johnson’s character’s break from Summer allowed her to more openly express her feelings for Kyle, which he eventually came to return. That meant the end of ‘Kola’.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Nick Newman And Rey Rosales Aren’t On Board

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) isn’t on board with the latest pursuit of Kyle. He’s seen Summer hurt before and doesn’t trust that Kyle has his daughter’s best interests in mind.

Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) wasn’t sure about Kyle from the start. Beyond being protective of his sister, Rey believed that Kyle’s background wouldn’t fit Lola’s. As it turned out, big brother was right.

As this ‘Skyle’ sequel takes hold both halves of this reformed couple will try to sustain what was once and may again be love.
