The 23rd Season premieres on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. The two-hour premiere spoilers revealed that the show revisits the season 22 finale, and begins by continuing the story of Catalina Machado (Zabryna Guevara). Titled And the Empire Strikes Back. the first episode definitely hints at a Star Wars connection. That will be followed by a second episode titled Never Turn Your Back on Them.

Unfortunately, two key characters make their exit in the Law & Order: SVU Season 23 Premiere. Special Victims Unit fans will see that previous regulars, Officer Kat Tamin, (Jamie Gray Hyder) and Deputy Chief Christian Garland (Demore Barnes) make their exits. Other spoilers that emerged revealed that Olivia (Liv) Benson ends up in grave danger and is physically attacked. Well, it turns out that when she broke her ankle and injured her knee in real life, her injuries were introduced into the storyline.

It’s not clear that Kat and Christian make their exits over tested loyalties. However, Cartermatt reported, “Benson’s loyalty to Garland is tested.” But, the link to Kat’s departure doesn’t seem to tie into that. In fact, loyalties and departures possibly span both episodes during the premiere. The synopsis for the NBC premiere revealed, “As the investigation into a sex-for-housing scheme expands, Benson’s loyalty to Garland is tested. Rollins and Carisi try to keep their witnesses on board when a powerful congressman is identified as a suspect.”

Law & Order: SVU Season 23 guest stars Ben Rappaport, Terry Serpico and Octavio Pisano. Meanwhile, Fansided noted that Christopher Meloni continues as Detective Stabler and fans will hopefully see much more of him. Notably, Cheatsheet reported that the focus of fans seems to be on Garland and how that all plays out. Meanwhile, other fans hope for more about how things develop between Rollins, (Kelli Giddish) and Carisi, (Peter Scanavino).
