Many fans of the CBS series, MacGyver have been curious to know why the show was canceled after the fifth season. The disturbing news came as a shock to fans and lovers of MacGyver and in our opinion; it came a bit earlier than expected. The timing was off if you’d ask us, giving that the show had kept so many fans glued to their mobile screens and television sets.

Fans had hoped that there was more to the episodes which ran concurrently over these past months. Sadly, it appears fan’s expectations have been dashed into the waters following that the season’s finale is set to end in some week’s time.

While analyzing reasons why the series saw an abrupt end, one is forced to look at the demo ratings for each week’s episode. Talking about the ratings, the MacGyver series averaged a demo rating of 0.5 in the 18-29 demographic. Sadly, it was still under 4.8 million live views until the time we heard the shocking news. Ultimately, we can say that these numbers aren’t encouraging. As a fact, these figures are below an average scripted television series in this present year (2021). Moreover, the series was airing at an abnormal timeslot scheduled for Friday nights at 8.00 pm Eastern time.

MacGyver  News – About CBS

We are clueless at the moment how CBS wants to resuscitate their confidence for a new show in the future. The entire CBS team sadly could not run the series until its season finale, so we assume they might not do any better with any new series. Nevertheless, they may think that there is a shorter route, but with the looks of things, it is hard to comment on budget issues without numbers in front of us.

MacGyver  News – What Are The Options?

So, are there possibilities that MacGyver’s sixth season happens anytime on the CBS channel? From a distance though, it seems possible. However, it is difficult to know what the new streaming channel would be. The executive producers of the series already have CBS studio involved in its live streaming for its five seasons. So from a profit standpoint, it benefitted the network to keep it around for the entire five seasons.

Besides, there may be too many procedures for rechanneling the series on a world platform like Netflix. So, the best option for the series other than the CBS network would be the Paramount+ streaming channel. The assumed new channel (Paramount+) will hopefully bring more viewers on the sixth season – after all, Criminal Minds and other series have seen a drastic change since they resorted to the channel.

MacGyver  News – Fans Assumption On The MacGyver’s Series

From many fans and lovers of the MacGyver series, we would say we are hopeful about new changes on the current streaming studio. That hope, however, doesn’t suggest that we wish the series transfers to a new channel. We’ve seen how other streaming series resuscitated back to life at the brink of cancelation and transfer. So, we are learning not to quit our hopes on MacGyver and the CBS studio.
