Coronation Street spoilers and updates reveals Evelyn Plummer (Dame Maureen Lipman) is set to come back to the cobbles next week after her “scenic rail journey.” She comes back at a time when the locals are still reeling from the aftermath of Nina Lucas’s (Mollie Gallagher) and Seb Franklin’s (Harry Visinoni) brutal attack. Upon her return, she immediately clashes with Roy Cropper (David Neilson) after making an insensitive remark.

Viewers have long been awaiting Evelyn’s return to the soap and she’s set to appear next week, May 12. Unfortunately, she’s unable to control her responses and makes an insensitive remark about Kirk Sutherland’s (Andrew Whyment) IQ. Roy won’t take her comments lightly and responds to her harshly as well. She likens Evelyn’s nasty remarks to the vitriol that Nina experienced and throws her out of the café.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Evelyn Plumer Apologizes To Roy Cropper
Evelyn and Roy patch things up later on. She returns to the café and apologizes for her rude behavior. Meanwhile, Roy admits that he overreacted and explained how worried and concerned he is about Nina.
Evelyn’s portrayer, Dame Maureen Lipman said previously that she was “taking a bit of a sabbatical” from the soap. The actress is still waiting on her second COVID vaccine, which explains her absence from the show. Aside from that, Lipman is also dealing with the passing of her partner. In the soap, Evelyn went on a trip with a friend to cover for her portrayer’s absence.
The actress returns to the show in the middle of a “hard-hitting storyline” involving the brutal attack of Nina and Seb.

According to Ian MacLeod, the story is based on true events, “which centers on a senseless act of violence, will draw in characters from all corners of our narrative universe and will, we hope, leave the audience with a clear message.”
“Everyone, regardless of how they look, how they dress, or any aspect of how they live their lives, should be treated with tolerance and respect,” he continued.
The hate crime storyline is expected to continue for several months and fans can expect more drama and unexpected events as the story unfolds.
“The story will run across the rest of the year and beyond, with many twists and turns, and will be heartbreaking and dramatic in equal measure. In the end, the story will see an optimistic outcome emerge from the traumatic attack,” he added.
