Olivia Jade, Lori Loughlin’s daughter, and YouTuber and social media influencer, is not keeping quiet after the new Gossip Girl series made a reference to her regarding her famous mom’s involvement in the 2019 college admissions scandal. She denied the claim of any positive impact made by her parents’ conviction, which happened as a result of the bribery scandal, on her social media brand.

The new series made a reference to Olivia Jade’s social media clout, especially how it was impacted by her mother Lori Loughlin and father Mossimo Giannulli’s jail sentence for their involvement in bribery.

It also didn’t take long for Gossip Girl to poke fun at the social media influencer, who faced online bullying after it was found out that she got into USC based on her parent’s money and not by merit. It was also outrageous to fans since one of Olivia Jade’s work on social media, according to NewsWeek, was giving advice to people on how to apply to University, for those who are seeking college applications, before the scandal.

38 minutes into the Gossip Girl episode, Constance Billard School for Girls student Monet De Haan (Savannah Lee Smith) said, “You as someone who loses is bad for business.”

Fellow student Luna La (Zión Moreno) replied, “And everything will be fine so long as you win. Olivia Jade gained followers when her mom went to jail.”

The 21-year-old, in turn, did not waste time in setting the record straight on TikTok. “No, I didn’t,” she said, shaking her head in the response video, posted on Saturday, July 10. She turned the comments off for the post.

Olivia Jade News – Lori Loughlin And Mossimo Giannulli’s Scandal And Its Impact On Daughter Olivia Jade’s Life

In March 2019, Olivia’s mom and dad, actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were reportedly facing investigations for allegedly paying $500,000 in bribes in order to get Olivia and her sister Isabella, 22, into USC as recruits to the crew team even though they are not rowers.

Both women dropped out of USC following the scandal and Olivia lost some major partnerships, including her deal with Sephora, and was dropped from TRESemmé as a sales partner.

Olivia’s Instagram follower count was not affected too much by the scandal, however, her YouTube channel dropped from almost 2 million to 1.8 million today.

Slate writer Heather Schwedel said that Giannulli checked “all the right boxes for ridicule”, while comedian John Oliver advised against sending “death threats” to Olivia Jade, but said that a limited-period of joke making at her expense was acceptable.

Lori served less than two months behind bars for the part she played in the case. For his involvement, her husband served a five-month prison sentence, though some of it was spent in home confinement with an ankle monitor.

In December 2020, Olivia appeared on Red Table Talk to apologize for her role in “contributing to the social inequality”, and also dubbed herself a “poster child of white privilege.”

Olivia Jade News – In March, Olivia Further Shared What It’s Been Like For Her After The Scandal.

“We were talking about being publicly shamed and I was like, ‘Well, my situation doesn’t even compare, I’m not even going to start to compare it to yours,'” Olivia recalled. “And she looked at me and said, ‘Olivia, it doesn’t matter if I’m drowning in 60 ft. of water and you’re drowning in 30, we’re both still drowning.'”

The YouTuber further continued: “I think about that quote everyday because it’s so true and such a bigger message to our world right now. I think we’re all very quick to judge. I think we’re all very quick to put people down.”
