The Real Reason Tracy Spiridakos Left Chicago PD

Chicago P.D. spoilers tease the season finale will be a nail-biter, and also an emotional one as fans say goodbye to a fan favorite.  The Chicago P.D. episode airing on May 22 will be the last time Tracy Spiridakos will appear as Hailey Upton on the NBC drama.  Ahead of the Season 10 finale, Tracy Spiridakos finally explained why she decided to leave Chicago P.D.  Keep reading to find out what she had to say.

Hailey Upton has been a fan favorite on Chicago P.D. since Tracy Spiridakos’ debut in Season 4.  In 2017 she became a regular when she replaced Erin Lindsay after Sophia Bush’s exit. 

Over the years fans have watched Hailey Upton grow in to a talented detective, and watched her romance with fan fave Jay Hallstead play out.  Upton has had her highs and lows, but she will certainly be missed by viewers at home.

When news broke that Tracy Spiridakos was leaving Chicago P.D. and we would have to say goodbye to Hailey Upton, fans were perplexed. 

Tracy never spoke out publicly about her exit, which only fueled more gossip and speculation about why she was leaving the NBC show. 

It turns out, there’s nothing scandalous behind the actress’ decision to leave.  The Hailey Upton portrayer just wants to spread her wings and see what other projects are out there.

Chicago P.D. Spoilers – Says Goodbye To Upton

The Chicago P.D. fan fave told Variety, “I decided at the end of my sixth season, which is when I had reached out to Gwen [Sigan] and to everyone at Wolf [Entertainment] to let them know that I just wanted to do one more year. I wanted us to send out the character with one last season.”

Spiridakos added, “It was a hard decision — very, very hard. I love everybody on the show — cast, crew, producers, writers, everybody. It’s such an incredible team. I was just curious what was out there for me and wanted to switch it up, and that was it.”
