Prince Harry Court Loss Could Create Bigger Problems

Prince Harry is reportedly having a rough week after his legal battle against Associated Newspapers, the Daily Mail, ended in disaster when his claims were thrown out in the protected court case.

The Catastrophic Ruling

1 News New Zealand described the case as being “a catastrophic result for all plaintiffs involved.” They included “Elton John and husband David Furnish, actor Liz Hurley and Baroness Doreen Lawrence.”

Because Associated Newspaper will more than likely want to get back their legal costs, the outlet noted that it could “cost them £50 million.”

The India Express reported that “Justice Matthew Nicklin dismissed all claims made by Prince Harry and six other claimants citing [their] failure to prove their allegations of unlawful information gathering.”

Why This Loss Matters

According to royal commentator Neil Sean, the ruling could be just the beginning of a much bigger headache for the Duke of Sussex.

In his Daily News Headlines vlog on YouTube Thursday night, Sean laid out why this defeat matters way more than people realize. Sean reminded his viewers that “every single claim was thrown out,” and that doesn’t often happen.

Harry’s False Confidence

Sean said that Harry apparently thought his evidence was “rock solid,” but the judge didn’t see it that way. Next, he said that in his opinion, Prince Harry could have been “buoyed on by that minor win with a previous newspaper,” which gave him false confidence.

The royal commentator also said that he believes “lawyers around him allegedly” encouraged the whole thing too. Now those same lawyers aren’t exactly singing his praises anymore.

Strained Relationship? 

Sean claimed that Harry’s relationship with his KC, “David Sherborne,” has become “slightly strained.”

But here’s where it gets properly messy because Sean explained that the real problem is what happens next. Harry had previously told the court he “didn’t have leaky friends,” but Sean says that’s nonsense.

The ‘Leaky Friends’ Problem

He argued that Prince Harry “really does have many leaky friends” who have been “spilling” secrets to journalists for years. Some of those journalists even allegedly paid for the gossip. Sean admitted he doesn’t “pay” people himself, but plenty of others do.

Sean claimed that, following the ruling, former staff members now feel more comfortable speaking publicly because, in his view, any previous concerns about legal action have diminished. 

Former Employees Ready to Talk

Per Neil Sean, they figure “Harry and Meghan” don’t have the “money” or energy to sue them. Sean suggested some former employees were treated “very shabbily” and got “dismissed” without proper reason.

“Behind the scenes,” Sean claimed there are “mega problems” for the couple.

Sean also criticised their whole media strategy while talking about distractions like “videos of” Meghan “dancing in the kitchen” or Harry joking around with hats. He used the term “distraction process,” suggesting that it’s designed to stop people from focusing on “what a disaster this has now been.”

The Media Irony

Sean argued the irony wasn’t lost on viewers because while they dislike the media, certain commentators believe they actually want constant coverage.

Sean pointed out that Prince Harry and Meghan now “can’t control the media that allegedly they despise so much, but want them to cover everything.”

Will It Hurt Them Financially?

Will this actually hurt them financially? Sean doesn’t think so. He said people like Harry and Meghan “always have reserves” and wealthy friends who will help out.

“The final” figure “will be big,” sure, but it won’t “make too much of a dent in the lifestyle of these two.” It will just “look embarrassing on the world stage.”
