Chad Michael Murray Makes Heartbreaking One Tree Hill Confession

Chad Michael Murray sky-rocketed to stardom when he was cast as Nathan Scott on The CW’s iconic teen soap One Tree Hill.  Like many other CW series in the network’s early days, the cast was mostly newcomers. 

By the time One Tree Hill aired its finale, the cast were all household names and Chad Michael Murray was a well known actor.  After the finale, Murray seemingly vanished off the map.  Now the actor is older and wiser and opening up about his mental health struggles when he was playing Lucas Scott.

One Tree Hill Star Makes Sad Confession

In a new interview with The Cut, Chad Michael Murray explained that the heights of his One Tree Hill fame were actually excruciating for him because of his agoraphobia.

The Lucas Scott portrayer confessed, “I was around 23 and I had an event in Miami,” he told The Cut, “but I couldn’t leave my hotel room.  The world felt like it was closing in.  I was having anxiety attacks.”

On his 25th birthday, Murray decided to make some positive changes in his life.  “I didn’t like the direction that I was going in my life.  I went to church and I got a tattoo of a cross on my left wrist, and I was like, I’m going to move myself in faith.”

The New And Improved Chad Michael Murray

Since stepping back from the spotlight and regrouping, Chad Michael Murray is married to the love of his life and they have three kids. 

The One Tree Hill has always been private about his family, and gone to great lengths to keep his kids out of the spotlight.  In fact, his three kids’ names have never even been released to the public.

It sounds like Murray is ready for act two of his career and we can’t wait to see what he does.  Did you know the Lucas Scott actor was struggling so much when he was on One Tree Hill?
